 | Alarm system and dsl So I have a problem. Just got DSL in this house.
I put a filter on the telephone, and I checked the signals to the DSL modem, they are all in the verygood-excellent range according to the dslreports chart.
In game my pings are very low and consistent until like every 30 seconds 999 ping and then it drops. I have only tested this with my alarm system on so far.
Now, I just got ADT installed here(installed before DSL) and it's just the small control box and it just goes into the wall. I don't see where I could put like a rj31x filter like I did in my other house.
Are new ADT alarm systems like filtered or something? I don't see how I could put one, as there is no central station like this, just the hand dialer box.
Thx |

jr @sbcglobal.net | Typically they mount a small box in the closet areas and run a phone wire to it, that usually is locked so you have to have a whole house filter done in the NID. Some alarms are using cellular now so its best to contact ADT support to verify. |

 | I see a wire going to the wall, but it might just be power, I will verify later. How could I have a whole filter on the house? How would my dsl work then... :?
If it's cellular then I am not sure what would be causing the lag. |

 | reply to JigglyWiggly Sounds to me you need a homerun ran directly to the modem with an outside splitter installed. I wouldn't trust the dsl filters they install inside the control panel. They dont work worth a dime many times. |
