sadguy join:2003-11-24 Frisco, TX | Anyone know what the comcast voice fees and taxes are? I'm paying $10 in taxes/fees to att for my land line and am considering switching to comcast for phone/internet and maybe tv, although I currently have no tv provider, just OTA. Does Comcast charge about the same in taxes and fees or is it less?
thanks |

PROS: youll probably get a good deal by bundling services with Comcast CONS: Gotta rent that $7 modem. |

If you've never had cable service, it may be a good idea to use the rented modem for a few months to make certain everything is stable and you like the service. |

At least it is in mine, I have digital starter tv, hsi, phone bundle. -- ~Help Find a Cure for Cancer~ ~Proud Member of Team Discovery ~ |

It's not in mine. I'm on the Alchemy promo, and pay an extra $7 for the eMTA rental. Someone a while back said that if you buy your own cable modem for the internet, they waive the rental since the eMTA is required for phone service and the network functionality of the eMTA is just disabled. |

1 edit | reply to sadguy I currently pay the following tax in Knoxville, TN for CDV Unlimited: Sales Tax $3.67 911 Fees $1.00 Universal Connectivity Charge $1.17 Total $5.84
When I had a land line POTS through AT&T it was almost $15 per month in taxes, surcharges, and fees. With the largest fee being the FCC Subscriber Line Charge which was $6.50. |

| reply to sadguy Or it could be you are charged the $7 fee but it's included in the total advertised price. Everyone at Comcast will give you a different contradictory answer. I discussed the HD fee with them for 30 minutes. $13.95 "HD box fee" is billed as $8.95 "HD fee" and $4 box fee. The $44.95 TV service is billed as 4 different things that adds up to $44.95. At least in my area, on my account and for the month in question. Your mileage WILL vary. -- PRescott7-2097 |

 | reply to sadguy I'm on bus class with 3 lines and voice fees and taxes are 11.18 for all 3 lines. Modem rental is included in my total price but is still shown itemized on the bill as a voice EMTA rental. (they gave us separate modems for voice and Internet) Sales tax is 10.88
When we had four lines and DSL with AT&T taxes were almost 60 dollars additional to the bill |
