While I agree, good luck with that, the CONS will just push it through with their majority. If a CON MPP was to vote against it, he or she would probably be kicked out of caucus. |

Maybe it won't make a difference, but this has 1984 written all over it and must be stopped. I signed. |

Yup. Unfortunately these new powers/ weapons will be initially aimed at their own caucus to consolidate power ('a purge'); then, leveraged 'information' will be gathered to ensure party members comply 100% of the time with any agenda. Eventually, it will simply boil down to personal power and wealth accumulation. |

Write your MP via the Privacy Commissioner of Ontario's site (works for all provinces) » www.realprivacy.ca/write-my-mpBetter yet, write all the MP's via this link. Sign a public petition » openmedia.ca/StopSpying |

on the ubb petition they put together they gave the list to the liberal party who spamed me for months. Ignoring requests foe removal. |
|
|
I was on that list you're on and unsubscribed successfully.
In regards to Bill C-30, I think I'm more worried about the provision that requires ISPs to install monitoring equipment that enables law enforcement to monitor anything they want. i.e. DPI appliances, etc... They're being purposefully general about it too!
It's not just about asking ISPs for personal information without a warrant. |

I just read the Vikileaks » twitter.com/#!/vikileaks30 on Vic Toews. He certainly comes across as being a 2 timing backstabber... much like what this Bill proposes -- to stab democracy in the back. I signed the petition. These CONS go against the values of this great nation -- of democracy and freedom of expression. I sure wish that they'll get booted out in the next election. |

Yes, and Harper supports him.....as does the rest of the Conservative caucus. What does that tell you about the party which received a majority of the seats in Parliament with only 28% of the eligible vote? |

I just think that if people don't get informed about this bill, this bill will pass without any objections..
I find that different countries introducing the spy bill under "protecting children" at the same time shocking. You have the US, Canada, Spain, UK and others are attempting to have a go at this.
Increased internet bills shouldn't be a concern here...
This is not about child porn. This is ACTA in the works. Those same countries that signed up on acta in October of last year are the ones brining these kinds of laws.
Canada has also been trying to pass a sopa-like bill, but common sense amongst the general population here would never let that happen, until Harper got a majority out of a 60% voter turnout.
The only way to fix this is to go and bark at your local news stations. Get the word out. Going to your MP is not as effective as going to news stations. Tell them this is not right.
Regarding ACTA: "Canada
The University of Ottawa's Canadian Internet Policy and Public Interest Clinic filed an access to information request but received only a document stating the title of the agreement, with everything else blacked out.[65] "
Really? is this Canada or China? |

rik555, you insult every family who lost a loved one to hitler with that comment. Hitler killed 6 million jews and countless others trying to crush the world. Harper is trying to put away pedophiles. Don't you dare compare the two. |

In chess, it is called a "sacrifice". This takes out defenses off C-11 to allow an ultra-rapid consultation of the copyright bill conclusion before March 15th. Harpoon's going to ram this puppy down our throats whether we like it or not. Bill C-30 will then get watered down a bit ,and, again, it will be rammed down our throats (or elsewhere). He was a puppet to George Jr. , the current administration, and all the *IAA's. Still is, and always will be. ... no matter how much it costs us in cash and freedoms. |

I think Toews is the sacrifice piece, not C30. C11 can get a lot worse with C30 passed.
>>First, Section 33 tells us that, "The Minister may designate persons or classes of persons as inspectors for the purposes of the administration and enforcement of this Act." So we're not talking about police officers necessarily. We're talking about anyone the minister chooses or any class of persons.
What if the Minister designates **AA as the inspectors for C30 and that will be them have snooping power to all material within an ISP's reach.
C11 does not reach that level. |
|
|
Oh, both bills will be passed. You can bet your bottom dollar on that.
C-30 is the piece in temporary jeopardy. It's being used to hide the ramming of C-11's discussion & consultation stage. Once C-11 rears it's ugly head again once it's out of committee mid-March, C-30 will come back stronger than ever.
This will be the reason why we will need more jails & prisons.
Both bills as laws together, there won't be enough people on the outside to support all of us inside. |

With bad economy, growing inflation rate on essentials like groceries utilities and heating; decaying health care system, and propose cuts in old age benefits, prisons sound like a plan B for retirement. |
