My understanding is there is only one DVR and it takes care of the HD for you. In fact I have two the second was used for a long while on an SD TV as I was told they only had HD DVR's I have since purchased a second HD TV and just plugged the DVR in to it.

So to answer your question if you have a DVR you have all you need for HD.
