Re: [CenturyTel] Using my own modem Since I had the service there has been speed issues. Most of which was remedied with some rewiring by technicians that visited. Since the last technician visted- The modem drops speed about 1-2 times a week even with a computer connected directly into the modem. Bridge mode and routing mode doesnt make a diffrence. Except bridge mode is good for getting random speeds. If the modem is turned off then on things get betterish usually. If it is flat out reset with a pen in the reset button it gets better for a week without any problems.
The modem is also very warm to the touch when this happens, more so than any other modem I've had previously.
The speed issues are noticed doing speedtests from the centurylink site and speakeasy. As well as looking at the modems page where it has a status portion that shows the DSL line speed which is proportional to the speed test results.
When I called Centurylink today I spoke with somone who I wasnt very impressed with who made it sound like it takes an act of god to get a diffrent modem. |

wayjacPremium,MVM join:2001-12-22 Indy | Yea I don't think another modem will help The noise margin is dropping to 9db I think that is causing your problem Connecting the modem at the nid test jack will show if there is a problem with the inside telephone wiring |

 | it's the only jack inside my apartment that has any functionality, the others have been "un attached" by the techs who was here previously. |
