It also hasn't happened again since my last post, so it's strange to say the least. |

It occurred for me again a few days ago. |

I have had this happen to me at least 5 times since I made this thread.
I'm still waiting on a phone call for the Samsung boxes but I don't I'll even get one. |

Marr Samsung boxes are low availability at the moment. Your other option is a Cisco or to use component video. -- ~All truth goes through three phases. First, it is ridiculed. How come you guys don't have any Samsung boxes available? is it because you guys are trying to save them for new subscribers only? |
|
 | I doubt that's the case, new subs are getting the same things as everyone else. There probably just buying more of the Cisco boxes right now. |

Um no... why you would even think something like that completely escapes me. If you must know there are some that absolutely insist on Samsung because they stretch the guide or for some reason think they are better than Cisco despite the Cisco 86/87 series being newer and night and day faster than the Samsung. The Samsung also plays nicer with some 3rd party devices. -- ~All truth goes through three phases. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. The Samsung also plays nicer with some 3rd party devices. I specifically requested Samsung boxes because of the guide, but also because I had minimal problems with those boxes. I had the older Cisco boxes, the SA boxes and always had issues with either HDMI, box lock ups, etc. When I switched to Samsung, I noticed the guides were significantly faster and I loved the stretched guide.
Since the stretched guide is such a biggie for a lot of people, given the fact that people are requesting the Samsung mainly for this reason. Can't someone figure out why the Samsung boxes stretch the guide while all other boxes don't? |

| I know we've discussed this but I never knew it wasn't supposed too. The last I remember it was unknown as to why it stretched the guide, but didn't realize it wasn't supposed to.
Either way, an option for users to choose to stretch the guide or not would be a simple way to alleviate the need for people wanting a Samsung box. Obviously, since Samsung boxes are hard to find that a good chunk of users like the stretch guide (since there really isn't much of a difference with anything else on the Samsungs except that they play better with third party hardware) it would be a feature that people would like to have. That's my opinion, anyway. |

GH we have a choice...
1) Chase every little thing down that SOME people find annoying or want changed and update the boxes every 60 days across all platforms (and there are many). Wasting a huge amount of time and resources and money and also risk the bricking of a huge cross section of the boxes because one line of code doesn't play nice for some reason NOT to mention the hassles of the box upgrade process for everyone...upgrading boxes isn't as easy as clicking a button and there is always the risk that something bad will happen. And bad when you're upgrading thousands of boxes at a time is bad like you have never seen GH. It's nightmarish bad.
OR
2) Taking our time and all the suggestions and findings and then implement the best of the show of those ideas, properly working through each platform upgrade so we know it works without fail thus saving time, money and hassles for our customer while at the same time releasing a product worthy of releasing.
GH you can't have it both ways and the sooner you folks understand this the better. I get the whole need for immediate gratification thingy I really do but honestly you guys need to start looking at the bigger picture which includes the complexity of what we're dealing with here. I realize we make things look easy...after all that is what we're supposed to do....BUT...there is nothing easy about making all these things work like magic on the back end.
While the technology is upgradable nobody said it would be easy or without it's perils. It isn't like home technology upgrades....here you are dealing with things on a grand scale and when things go wrong they go really wrong and the cost is mind blowingly expensive. Our job is to pack as much feature and bang into the box as they will allow without breaking anything in the process and when you're dealing with properly interfacing with hundreds of thousands of consumer devices and our network on top of things it's a daunting task to say the least...
So please... a little patience and understanding would be appreciated. We're listening...but these aren't going to happen overnight. When things are ready you fine folks will be the first to know... -- ~All truth goes through three phases. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. | I'm not quite sure why you're banging your heard, we are just simply having a discussion here. I'm not expecting anything overnight (nor is anyone else that has posted in my opinion). We are simply making suggestions, that is all.
I don't think anyone on this forum is expecting BHN to chase down every little thing that some people find annoying, but it seems you are asking us for suggestions but when we make them you sometimes get offended in the sense that we want everything now. I don't expect anything to happen over night as I understand the complexities that you (and all of BHN) are faced with. I'm simply making a suggestion regarding the guide (as you've mentioned that Samsung boxes seem to be a hot ticket, there must be some reasoning behind that).
I enjoy Brighthouse on many different levels. I find their service to be outstanding, as you have seen me mention on numerous occasions. I'm simply making a suggestion (as I have in the past) about the guide layout because it comes up often on this forum.
I can't speak for all that post on this forum, but I am very patient and understand everything you are speaking about. While we can't have it both ways, neither can you. If you want to hear suggestions, you have to understand that many people have many different suggestions regarding BHN service and a forum like this invites those people to share them. Some are minor, some are not, but they're still things that people feel can improve the service. Anyone with any bit of common sense will understand that not every little thing that we mention can be implemented and nothing is going to happen over night. |
