 | Known outage in Chicago? Good morning. I came into the office this morning to a lot of red screaming dots... Does anyone know if AT&T is having a network outage in downtown Chicago related to DSL this morning??
Thanks... |

 | I have 6 clients in the Chicago area with no DSL service this morning. Connections went down at 3:17AM 2-22-12. |

 | reply to cmslick3 Same here. My 4100b had all green lights but I was unable to go online. Reset everything and still no go. Now my phone line is dead (POTS) and the 4100b can't get sync. My friend who lives on the north side of chicago texted me at 7:10 to report the same thing happening to him. Sigh... |

 | reply to ACSIPC All sites just came back up at 8:43AM. Guess they had to get their coffee before they figured out which router to reset. |
|
 | thanks for the replies. I ran a trace and it routed to a detroit IP and then went down.
Now the trace looks normal again. |

 | reply to cmslick3 I just called them - got a recorded message that Chicago area customers have reported no internet service (widespread) and engineers are working on it (8:15am). |
|
 | reply to ACSIPC I spent more than an hour waiting for customer service, only to be told once I got on the phone with them that there was a known outage in the area. It would be REALLY useful for AT&T to figure out some way of automating this information, as that was an hour I really needed to spend doing other things. Also would have been useful to know that cyclying through my modem and computer reboots wasn't going to help.
So, short answer, from the mouth of the customer service rep I spoke to is that in fact there are outages in Chicago and in Elmhurst, either of which might be affecting ATT DSL usage.
(my anti-virus successfully updated itself "2 hours ago" from 5:45 am, suggesting that for me at least, the DSL was working at 3:45 am. |

 | reply to cmslick3 Chat session with tech reveals multi-state Uverse Service outage as well. All services have been down since 6:55am in Saint Louis. |

I didn't ask for Uverse help, I asked for DSL but was connected to the wrong person. Needless to say, I was put on hold for over an hour before I decided to just hang up and wait it out. When I looked at my modem connection information all I kept getting was DNS failures. This has happened a few times this week in the early morning hours. Guess I just need to get more sleep and I won't notice it. I'm with the others that ATT should put and announcement on the phone when you call in that there is an outage. Saves wasted time holding on for something that won't be fixed with the phone call. |
|
 | reply to macos95 well yesterday I saw a lot ATT trunks working in the Harlem and Higgins area. |
|
 | reply to cmslick3 All I did was ping the ATT IPs and they both failed so I figured it was on their end and just a matter of time for them to fix it, its been at least 10 years since I seen this happen, they do a hell of a job keeping the DSL up on my end (far SE chicago). |

 | reply to Alik57 Same on the northwest side - green lights on the modem but DNS errors. |

Aggravating, by the way, that one has to wait on the phone for 1/2 hour to confirm that there is an outage in area. You'd think this could be automated. |
|
 | reply to cmslick3 We also have a hand full of client in downtown and northwest Indiana that are down. Calling support took 30 min before i hung up. the one client in downtown said they were back up. but most in Indiana are still down. |

Alarm system lost connection sometime around 4 am and went crazy and woke me up. Found DSL down. All lights on, but no connectivity and modem diag page showed ADSL fail. Called AT&T and went through the automated "reboot your shit" stuff knowing it was a problem on their end, and the system said a tech would have to come out. Got to work and got the automated call "a tech needs to speak to you immediately"... waited on hold for 10 minutes for a very nice guy in Little Rock to tell me it was a BIG outage and there's no resolution time yet. |
