[abuse] Filed complaint, tech shows up without notice! Cops callWell another chapter has been opened by Failpoint!! A complaint was launched a few days back and explained exactly what the problem was to the PUC. Of course they give me the same pony right as I would expect "we don't regulate the internet, but we'll communicate on your behalf with failpoint" As incompetent as the PUC's research into the take over of the phone service in New Hampshire, the PUC passed on incorrect information as to the general nature of my complaint and problem. This spawned a visit from our friendly (and what can be explained as scruffy dude), who showed up and said "Hi I am with the phone company, I need to get in and change out your modem".. This caught me by surprise, and by the nature and shadiness of this dude, it was clear he wasn't dealing with a full deck first thing in the morning. Or he didn't want to be bothered with another miss fire tech call about slow speeds and possible customer end issues.
So the local police were called in, the tech was questioned and warned that he is to identify himself properly next time and not represent himself as the "phone company".
The tech had our proper home phone number, but no one ever called to announce they were coming. Just showed up in rags to change out a modem.
The PUC was called back again, talked to the public affairs person and she once again told me she would pass on my concerns to failpoint and that someone would contact me back today. Of course, they have my proper number and no one has called.
The other issue I bring to light about the lack of assistance and of course lack of enthusiasm by the PUC rep is that they made decisions on a merger/takeover of the Verizon phone service by a company that many had warned and went on public record with the NH PUC and the PUC still proceeded to accept the take-over.
The PUC placed a condition of the sale that Failpoint would have to upgrade and or bring broadband to areas of the state that were under serviced. Of course they do not regulate the Internet in the state, so what happens? You have a failing phone company that has no more money, they upgrade and increase available access to broadband (or so they said in bi-weekly reports to the PUC), but fail to provide additional bandwidth on the back end. Add a $39.99 30/15 fiber promotion for 2 years and you have the perfect setup for the slowest internet in town. And the PUC is responsible as they were the ones that set the mandate for Failpoint to do this. But they don't want to regulate it. Pretty much they don't want to clean up after themselves for the F'ed up mess they have caused.
It is having an impact as customers are leaving for other service providers (such as myself to Comcast), and it puts Failpoint in the middle of yet another financial challenge. This now starts to impact service for business customers in NH, causing decrease in productivity for businesses hence it is affecting the economy.
My next call is to Senator Nancy Stiles in Hampton in the hopes that I will have a long conversation about the negative impact the state's PUC has had on the state of New Hampshire and how its impacting businesses.
I am hoping to find out what I need to do to file a petition to investigate Failpoint on their continued lies about their upgrades, and the continued lies and deception of its customers. Wasting money by pushing unnecessary resources dispatching techs out just to humor its customers through one more billing cycle to survive.
Its time to act and act now once and for all, and tell Failpoint to shape up or ship out of our state. Fairpoint is Bad for Business in New Hampshire! This will be my new campaign I will be launching and hoping to gain both residential and business support through-out the state to send a clear message to Fairpoint that we have had enough!
If anyone here would like to join forces and your affected by the impact cause my the NH PUC's actions and Fairpoints failures to maintain a stable network, please reply to my message and send me a private note and lets meet up at my office in Seacoast NH.
My offices and conference room will be made available to you free of charge to help with the cause!!!
Thank you. |

Re: [abuse] Filed complaint, tech shows up without notice! CopsDid the technician not show up in a marked FairPoint vehicle? It seems a bit over-reactive to call the police, if they were in a FairPoint vehicle. It sounds like someone is at least making good faith to reply to your PUC complaint, but sending a technician out. I can understand being miffed at the lack of communication, though. FairPoint should have at least given you a heads up.
Also, any state PUC is a joke. Everyone knows that. Hopefully your efforts will make a difference, but I'll doubt it. They've always been staffed by people who don't know anything, or are too close to the inside of the industry. |

Efforts = Failed. That company is par none, the worst. I would just give up hope on them as they just tell you exactly what you want to hear, just enough to leave them alone, and then don't fix any problems. If I had a choice of 3G vs unFairpoint, I'd take the 3G all day because I know it would work all day and would be faster. Seems extreme to call the cops although he got paid for it. The deal between Verizon and unFairpoint should have never been allowed. The only thing I can think of is Verizon or another Big ISP will wait until unFairpoint finally goes bankrupt for good this time and then they swoop in and buy it for cheaper than unFairpoint bought it for. Even in my town the service is awful. I had them for 2 months and just ditched that junk. 500kbps/680kbps on a 3Mbps/768kbps line for $60/month. I find that one interesting and not happening. Thank you RR Turbo for giving me broadband. |

Yup they failed. I made a threat that I would remove the equipment and throw it in the nearby river lol. The guy said he would call the police and have them arrest me for damage to property lol. And he then told me that it appears I had already done it cause he could not see my equipment lol.. Thats because I unpluged the power and disconnected the battery Total Fail by Failpoint. I just hope judgement days is coming for Fairpoint. Enough is enough.. FAIRPOINT IS BAD FOR BUSINESS IN NH! edit: And I requested to disconnect my services today. One thing to note, that when I called a rep had not been listening for my call even after saying hello she may have forgotten to take her headset mute off as she was telling another agent all sorts of awesome personal information about a customer in their system including his social security number. His last name started with a P and last for of his phone was 2031. The agent was talking about something called an R-C-MAC deferral, maybe she was hungry for a big mac I am not sure. And then talked about how the tech went to the wrong place, and that the address was wrong in the system. In addition to provide the correct address, cell phone number, social, account number, pending ticket number and an e-mail address she was sending it to. You guys at fairpoint need to be careful. I have contact this individual and he is PISSED!!! Probably going to lose this one to Comcast. Oh well.. you gotta watch what your doing, cause someone pissed off at you already will do what it takes to make Fairpoint look bad!! I could say your doing a good job on your own, but hey I don't mind helping a little bit (devils horns are growing). Dont' worry Mr. P, your information was not saved, only your phone number was planted in my mind to call you right back anonymously and tell you about all the fun things Fairpoint is telling another customer all about you! And because Fairpoint is so anal about verifying security, they fail to press that one little button that takes them offline before taking their headset off their ear and resting it so that I can still hear every word of your message, including the wonderful colorful language. Anyhow, I have had enough fun with this. I have contacts Washington DC, the FCC, and my local district rep( pending a reply), in hopes that I can start the process to push fairpoint into becoming more liable for its actions, or file a class action against them by contacting people and business in my area. One way or the other, I want to see them out of business!!! |

Re: [abuse] Filed complaint, tech shows up without notice! CopsI have never posted a comment on a forum before, but you have left me with little choice. First of all, I did call your home phone number at 10:40am, it rang several times, no answer. Check your caller ID, it's there. I also called your cell number at 10:41am, no answer. I find it really surprising that you would slander my appearance, dress, and professional demeanor when in fact you were NOT EVEN THERE. I would never write a blog about your wife's appearance for everyone to see. What I did see when your wife opened the door was a mother of small children, caught completely by surprise that ANYONE was at her door. Had her husband taken the time to let her know someone would be coming, she would not have been taken off guard. Remember, I did call, but she was most likely taking care of your children. I understand, I have kids of my own. I also need to point out that I am a clean cut, well dressed professional at my job. Had you been there you would have seen that I was wearing clean new jeans that I had bought at Christmas. You also would have seen that I was wearing a $170 North Face jacket. Hardly rags. Had you been there you would have heard the same greeting I have used 2-3 times a day for the last 15 years I have been doing this job. " Hi, I'm ------- from Fairpoint Communications". Had you answered your phone when your wife called you several times while I waited, I would have been more than happy to wait for you to get there. Had you been there, you would have seen that I did not act in a manner that anyone would consider " shady ". As to why the police were called I can only guess. They never questioned me or warned about anything. I was driving a very large, white bucket truck with the company logo all over the side. Had you been there, I may have been able to diagnose the problem you had. Had you been there, I may have been able to make you a happy customer again. That Sir, is my job.
Had you been there. |

PS: I talked with the officer after, he specificly told you that you should have had a uniform on, jacket or something with your logo on it as well as an id which is required by your company to be displayed on your person at all time (as per the standard operating proceedures).
And slandering your appearance? What are you crazy? Its a general description explained by the eyes of one who was never expecting you to arrive. What the hell do you think is going to happen? That she is going to describe you as her night and shiny armour?
But when you show up to someones door with a tech order THAT WAS NEVER ORDERED, then you can understand why the turn of events has happened.
Fairpoint has messed up so many time that you can't even image. And having Judy in broadband services try to pull the wool over my eyes and the rest of the community (including the PUC), throwing back reports to the PUC that there is nothing wrong that its failing actiontec modems, well buddy sorry to say I don't use a modem, I am plugged directly in and it works fine. The issue is the financial instability of Fairpoint and their actions over the past 6 months to increase customers base with a low ball promotion that has set the term "SLOW" in high gear.
Anyhow, my service request has been submitted to have this "thing" the size of a boat removed from my closet.
Fairpoint is BAD FOR NH BUSINESS!!! |

one more thing I will note, this tech must really be watching whats going on, if he wasn't worried about what he does while he works, then why the hell does he come out on the board and post?

No battleop I just like justice served. Not enough people stand up for their rights, and the rights of others. Fairpoint has taken advantage either by guilt or by force. Either way you slice it Fairpoint has messed up the New Hampshire economy by failing to service its customers.
I have not had one positive experience other than being successful at canceling service. We'll see what the final bill brings. I promise I won't be paying it.
Its not drama, its stated fact and showing the power of one voice, which should be more than one!!! |

Man Exeter, I get that you're angry at Fairpoint but come on now, you are taking this WAY out of proportion considering that you HAVE alternative internet according to you. Go use it. YES, it is a major pain that the service gets bad at night. I think we all agree that they have oversold or are not allowing their lines to burst speed when needed due to cost. It is a shame we had to go to the PUC to get a response but it did work. I got a response from the PUC and a call from Fairpoint the next day. Did that call from Fairpoint fix anything? Nope but at least they now admit that they have a problem and have to fix it. Scruffy Dude - I hope you don't get in trouble for posting! I know I was shaking my head when I read about the cops BS. Everyone I've ever dealt with at VZ/Fairpoint has at the very least been professional and polite so I found it hard to believe that all the facts were on the table there. Maybe you need to drive your truck onto the porch and show up in a tuxedo? Or hey how about a lab coat with pocket protector! -Gatsby |

Once you all start to have the same problems as I have such as simple feature request changes, or moves of service then you'll know. And besidss most of you replying are not even in a fairpoint area, so you only see what you see from the outside.. |

I am in a fairpoint area though and as much as I was opposed to this take over...nothing negative has come from it in this neck of the woods. In fact, I now have another option for high speed internet since fairpoint made good on there broadband upgrade promises. Users that i assisted who I signed up with Verizon DSL long ago still have Fairpoint DSL with no issues. Of course that will always be different for everyone I suppose. I still do not understand why the cops would be called. You filed a formal complaint. Once that happens I would expect anything to happen in the days following that. You neglected to mention that the technician did indeed call you that morning but didnt get an answer. No reason he couldnt swing by since he was in the area. It just seems like you are grasping at straws here for any little thing. |

Re: [abuse] Filed complaint, tech shows up without notice! CopsThat's pretty funny. I was supposed to have a tech come out to give me a replacement modem last year. He got to the driveway, went back and did something to my phone box, then started driving away. I literally chased him down the street and asked him where my modem was, he said "i have to do some testing and I'll call and ask about that".
25 minutes later he's peeking through my bedroom window unannounced.
Fairpoint has the worst customer service I've ever dealt with, while they are "expanding and upgrading" other areas, they are neglecting long time customers in their original areas. We have way too many people connected to very little bandwidth and the ping and latency is ridiculously bad. This has been going on for 4 years.
Every time I call them, they open a ticket, ask me when to call back, I tell them AFTER NOON. Sure enough, I get a phone call at 9AM every single time, I miss the call, and they don't call back. |
