what a crock

These companies love to RIP PEOPLE OFF.

I got the Motorola Surfboard modem from @HOME when they were still in business.

I signed a contract for $10 a month for 24 months for the modem. My contract states "If the service is cancelled, customer will still be responsible for the duration of the purchase contract."

They specifically told me I am BUYING not RENTING the modem, and that if I cancel my service, I still have to BUY the modem, they won't take it back.

In essence,

I am paying $240 for the modem.. Not bad.. And if I cancel now, I still have 12 more payments to go at 10 bucks a month.. Also not bad, seeing as how I can probably put it on ebay if I decide to get DSL...

Speaking of which, I wonder if someone would trade me a DSL router for my cable modem.. hehehehe

Ok You don't want it DSL modem.. I have one and i'm sitting here right now Not even running at a speed over 56k when it comes to download.. Why? Well i get the same Answers from my ISP all the time.. "They're Doing Line Upgrades" i've had this same ISP for 12 months.. orignally got my DSL Modem for free by signing a 12 month Contract. but i can garantee you for the 49.95 i pay a month... there's been atleast 2 months of Trouble "on And off" Modem was listed at 99 dollars. so i guess in Retrospect. It wasnt' free at all... However, Covad has said plenty of times they'd credit my account for downtime... hmmmm funny. they keep charging me the same amount every month..reason i'm now searching for a Cable Modem.... Anyone Have Any Good Suggestion on a Good Cable ISP In Tacoma , Washington? HELLLLLLLLLLP>>>>>>>
