Transfer from TekSavvy

I currently have 8/1 Quebec cable internet from TekSavvy. If I decide to transfer to Electronic Box because their new pricing seems more attractive to me, is there a risk that there will be some downtime? If yes, for how long? I can live without internet for a few hours, but not more than 6-7 hours.... By the way, I'll be using the same modem, which is a Motorola SB5101N.

Thanks!

Transferring from one TPIA to another can sometimes not be so smooth, the new TPIA cannot place any order at your current address unless the current has sent the disconnection request to Videotron.

The modem will need to be transfered to the new TPIA's inventory as well, that may take 24-72h (and yes, that could be time without Internet access).

When you are planning the switch, call up your current ISP and make sure you are speaking with an agent who (seems like) knows what he/she is talking about, make sure they will actually send the disconnection request to GSR in advance. This right here is the key factor in having as little down time as possible.

What we see more often than not, Current ISP tells client that everything is good and canceled, even provides Ref# for the whole cancellation process, but simply does not send the disconnection request in until the last min or even a few days after the target date.

Maybe the best thing to do is use the teksavvy direct forum to request cancellation... The knowledgeable ppl are there
