Right now the SB_KOMODO-1.0.6.1-SCM00-NOSH appears stable. Sure we're getting T3 and T4 timeouts occassionally its not a dealbreaker yet.

I don't get any, and with upstream power of 48dBmv which is bordering on marginal.

same here (minus the marginal upstream), only DHCP renews with that same Field invalid, no T3's or T4's

although, my 6120 always seems to timestamp things -4 hours or so - is everyone elses logs this way or just mine?

HiVolt is your modem pluged into the wall outlet for power, or into a UPS box? Just out of curiosity.

And I do wonder how much of a difference that might make.

For the record, I believe the SB6120 was released second half 2008, and here are firmwares listed in the revision history of 1.0.6.3, some may never have seen the wild:
1.0.6.3
1.0.6.1
1.0.5.2
1.0.5.1
1.0.5.0
1.0.3.5
1.0.3.4
1.0.3.3
1.0.3.2
1.0.3.0 (I have modems with this fw)
1.0.2.6
1.0.2.5
1.0.2.4 (I have modems with this fw. I think this is the one that Rogers pushed Jul-11 and caused lots of trouble for Teksavvy customers)
1.0.2.1
1.0.2.0
1.0.1.9
1.0.1.8 (may have issues in Mississauga? Lots of Teksavvy users reported functioning okay at some time on this though...)
1.0.1.7 (I have modems with this fw)
1.0.1.6
1.0.1.5
1.0.1.4
1.0.1.3 (I have modems with this fw)
1.0.1.2
1.0.1.1
1.0.0.7
1.0.0.6
1.0.0.5
1.0.0.4
1.0.0.2
1.0.0.1

SB6120s with P/N:545100-001-00 are easy to flash. You do have to open them up, solder a a serial cable, and have a TFTP server and copy of the firmware image.

SB6120s with P/N:545100-009-00 do not have serial port pads on the PCB, so I suspect you have to flash with a JTAG and test clip.

Please list any other known P/Ns and if they have serial headers on the PCB

Re: Where can I find the Motorola SB6121 (Firmware : 1.0.6.1) ??

I have a SB6121 running firmware SB612X-1.0.5.1-SCM00-NOSH and it appears to be running fine. Got it from Newegg.ca.

I am getting a similar log to HiVolt's, though. How bad is it to have those errors? My modem gets disconnected at night sometimes, but it happens very rarely and lasts for a minute or two.

I'm thinking not a big deal at all, unless you move. Are you already on upstream channel bonding in your area? If not, Rogers might change equipment on you to upgrade the service, and that might cause you trouble as well. Not that either moving or Rogers upgrades will cause you trouble, very unlikely in fact.. Sounds like you are working well enough at the moment.

Those errors don't matter, safely ignore them.

It would be brand new? Retail box? All literature & CD? If so, I would have to have it activated (up and running smoothly) before I make payment so there's a bit of trust involved in this whole thing.

I don't want to pay for it and get stuck with an expensive paper weight.

I've read through and noted that no one has actually explained HOW to check your current firmware revision. Here's how:

[1] Connect your Surfboard SB6120/SB6121 cable modem directly to your computer via an Ethernet cable. (No intermediary router, No cable connection is required)

[2] Open a browser and browse to: 192.168.100.1 The Motorola Surfboard Status page should open up.

[3] Click on the 'Help' tab. Third line down it lists your Firmware name. Mine reads: 'Firmware Name: SB612X-1.0.5.1-SCM00-NOSH'

That's it.

You can post in the direct forum and ask to have the current SB_KOMODO-1.0.6.1-SCM00-NOSH pushed out to you. Might work. or try a Gui boot via »192.168.100.1 in the configuration tab, where it says [Restart Cable Modem]

Incidentally, I am going through this whole process right now, and I'm going to request that TekSavvy switch over my modem anyways, despite not having the correct firmware revision [Currently: SB612X-1.0.5.1-SCM00-NOSH].

I'll report back how it goes.

(If that doesn't work, I'll take your offer and try flashing the firmware myself)

If I purchased a NEW Motorola SB6121 from my own source, how much would you charge to flash it?

Are you in the GTA, and how long would this process take? Lastly...how many have you done?

Okay okay, I just can't do mystery...

Bathurst and College.

Hardly any at this point, only got the equipment a few days ago.

I'd charge $10/modem for 1-3, cheaper in bulk.

Why do you want a new SB6121 when you can get a used but guaranteed working SB6120 from me? Then there is less risk, because I will have already flashed it :P

Seriously though, it works very easily, and I'm way over qualified for this kind of work, so...

Anyway, just pm guys, makes more sense than doing it in the open forum.

*Bold, mine.
So these "used but working" units, have they been employed on the robbers network previously and have they been deprovisioned by robbers allready? Or are these purchased units from the U.S. through such factions as kijiji, eBay etc... that were formerly provisioned on entire other U.S. networks in the past?
Hopefully they didn't "fall off" a truck or got "diverted" in any way thats not kosher. Just asking, not making accustations. The cat wants to know, they're the curious sort yanno
