[MLB] Ryan Braun

Ryan Braun will not serve a 50 game suspension after testing positive for PED's. I think he took PEDS and should serve the suspension. Thoughts?

WTF? Huh?

Proves that it doesn't matter what you do, it only matter who you are. Disgraceful, utterly and totally disgraceful.

Here's the story on ESPN:

»espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/76083···spension

Basically, he's getting off on a technicality, not because he didn't have PED in his urine, which tested 20:1.

This has Selig's hand writing all over it, no? Just like he hid Barry Bonds 3 failed tests.

Aha! 'Chain of custody' breach!

The old 'urine sample collector guy picks it up late on Saturday and figures FedEx won't ship it til Monday and so brings it home with him instead' ploy! Works every time!

And according to Ryan Braun, "it is the first step in restoring my good name and reputation."

The arbitrator ruled on this. MLB ruled him guilty.

Yeah, I know. The final word was that of the "independent" arbitrator. Sure it was. Selig hid Bond's failed tests and I have no doubt he had his hands on this looney deal too. MLB, can say what they want. They had ZERO interest in a tarnished MVP, especially when Selig and his lot keep braying about how The Steroid Era is over. Bullshit.

Selig is a terrible commissioner and this is only the latest example of why.

It's a little more than a technicality. It's the same sloppy evidence handling that gets court cases (many of which would be won) thrown out of court.

His word, not mine.

quote:
Travis Tygart, chief executive officer of the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency, called the decision "a real gut-kick to clean athletes."

"To have this sort of technicality of all technicalities let a player off ... it's just a sad day for all the clean players and those that abide by the rules within professional baseball," he said.

I understand. I still disagree that it's a technicality. If they can't prove they're producing unaltered pee that came out of his pee-pee they screwed up big time. There was no sense even doing the test.

No doubt. And, what's really screwed up is MLB entrusted the "evidence" to what amounts to a glorified bicycle courier. You would think MLB would have full-time dedicated pee-pee people whose only responsibilities are to ensure the chain of custody isn't compromised and to ensure the integrity of the pee-pee isn't compromised. MLB did a piss-poor job.

Shyam Das has a long and distinguished career as an arbitrator, both for baseball and other industries. He's been doing this for way longer than Bud Selig has been commissioner. He's not about to tarnish his career to make Selig happy. Das doesnt need baseball.

What's the part i heard about his test having 3 times the testosterone levels of any other test they have ever done? Is that part if the reason it was ruled in his favor?

Any chance he is clean?

When told he was positive, he called for subsequent tests, which were negative.

There's a chance's he's clean. There's a chance he was using. And there's no way to know.
quote:
Braun learned Oct. 19 his sample was positive for elevated testosterone, which he said was at a ratio that was the highest ever recorded in baseball’s testing program.
