Also, Gimp has lots of legitimate files with the .so extension so that's not much to go on.

Isn't it always comforting when a new variant of malware is reported on the security blog of the company hawking the anti virus software that, amazingly, protects you from this new variant?
I know I feel safer just knowing these companies exist, protecting us from the threats they create, er, tell us about.
