<description><![CDATA[BHNtechXpert posted : During this period disruptions in service may occur on almost any of our channels. The sun outage period begins February 26th, 2012 @ 1:30PM EST and ends March 15th, 2012 @ 5:30 PM EST. The duration of the outages will be between 1 and 30 minutes daily ranging in times from 1:30 PM to 5:45PM. <br><br>Bright House Networks will experience mild interference February 26th, 2012 through March 3rd, 2012. Interference will become severe March 4th, 2012 through March 11th, 2012. The interference will taper off severe to mild March 12th, 2012 through March 15th, 2012. <br><br>Sun outages will manifest themselves as the following: Mild to intense power specs, snow and noisy picture, or a complete loss of signal. <br><br><b>Why do Sun outages happen? </b><br>Commercial communications satellites are geostationery, and therefore have orbits which lie in the equatorial plane. During the spring and fall equinoxes, the sun also passes behind the satellites once per day. During the time when both the satellite and the sun are in the earth stations field of view, the RF energy from the sun can overpower the signal from the satellite. It is the loss or degradation of communications traffic from the satellite that is referred to as sun fade, sun transit, solar outage, or sun outage.<br><br>This is not provider specific.
