Of course, it helps. I do the same. Why others don't do that very simple procedure, I don't know... There is plenty of free DNS services around, which don't put their primary focus on making money from analyzing your browsing habits. Why not to use them, switching time to time to another similar provider? There is an obvious and very simple principle that everyone can understand - don't put all your eggs in one basket...
