[TiVo] Say Goodbye to TiVo

I noticed on my last bill that Comcast will no longer be offering a TiVo DVR subscription option to new subs.
quote:
IMPORTANT INFO: On 4/15/12 Tivo will no longer be
available for new subscribers. If you currently subscribe
to Tivo Service, you will continue to receive the service
until you make a change to your account or until you
receive further notice.

I wonder if this has anything to do with the supposed roll-out of the TiVo Premiere set top box that we heard about not that long ago.

Of course anyone that wants to can still buy a TiVo and get a cablecard tuner.

I thought Comcast canceled the Tivo experiment over a year ago?

The fact that they even had it certainly wasn't heavily promoted...

I gave it a whirl 2 years ago, because we liked the TiVo format but for some unknown reason it wouldn't work with any of my DCX3400 boxes. The comcast guy wasted better than half a day trying.

Then they tried to give me a worn out old banged up 120gb moto box, that if you were really lucky was good for maybe 20 hours of HD storage, tops. No thanks.

Take it back. Not good enough. We wasted too much time already.

Bought a premiereXL with a 1TB external drive. Sweet.

yay maybe now they can not accidently bill me for "tivo service" when I own a physical tivo box..... (CSR got screwed up and added Tivo service to my account when I said I need a cable card for a tivo a couple years ago) *rolls eyes*
