Damn... They have a coupon. 30% off.. I'll try to find it..
That being said, they're completion seems to be as bad as astraweb... I'm regretting my purchase of a year...
I get about 3mbps with them. 10mbps with astraweb.

You shouldn't sign up with anyone for a year until you are have thoroughly tested them out.

I used to have SuperNews, but signed up for ThunderNews during their Black Friday specials.

ThunderNews has been fantastic!

DogNZB for searching is a godsend.

Yep! ThunderNews = Highwinds, I max out my connection (200Mbps) all the time.

tried ssl-news 99c account, completion wasn't enough for my tv shows

Having both right now I am getting better completion with Astraweb than ssl-news.info

SSL-News.info has nothing pass 899days, Astraweb goes to 1600days.

Does anyone have speed issues with SSL-News? I signed up on 12/30 with them and it seems in the AM I can max out my connection at downloading at 6.25MB/s (50Mbps) but in the evening after I get home from work (when I do most of my downloading), my speeds are always awful. I download no more then 2MB/s in the evening. I tried all three SSL ports.

Just left Astraweb for Supernews, yearly unlimited $99.
Astraweb was good but I get way faster speeds at work and you wouldn't believe my bandwith here.
For u guys worried about takedowns, IRC is a nice backup to usenet.

Best Wishes

It could also be your internet provider. It happens with mine.

Brut7: Supernews ended up being terrible for me. Takedowns are getting pretty bad over there. I cancelled mine awhile back.

I noticed the 7$/month deal from Newsgroup Direct only last night. When I tried to sign-up, the deal was gone with the regular price being $20/month. Grrrr! I'm searching for a new provider since my Astraweb account has been de-activated (I simply do not want to subscribe to Astraweb anymore).

Go to the link below, then enter your user-name/password. Then open a ticket telling them you're cancelling the service. I paid through Paypal with them, so I also went to Paypal and cancelled the subscription to Astraweb. Done and Done.

Yeah, TweakNews was working great but now nothing seems to be working. Looks like they've been hit as well. Time to move elsewhere.

I'm stil on Astraweb, and I mean for 96USD a year it's 8USD monthly, so very good price. I also ordered XS-News, cause netherland provider are more loyal what concerns DMCA abuses.
