Sys3d posted : Usually is phone jack issue, Loose wire in outside box or it got wet somehow.
Did you install or mess with any RJ-11\45 outlets ?
Your wiring near screw downs is perhaps broken or cracked.
Inspect wiring first.
Clip broken wire away, re-strip and screw down again.
Or use cheap in-line connectors from radioshack etc. if adding splice.
Don't let isp tell you its because your modem is outdated or overheating when its only resetting your ip\dns.
Most likely is your wires or jacks causing the ip drops while dsl wont drop. ( dsl light stays indicated while internet light goes out and resets with with new ip.)
Just 1 wire is to blame somewhere most likely at a connection you have touched.

billaustin posted : Did you install the DSL filters? You need one on every jack that has a telephone (or satellite receiver) connected to it.

Log into the modem and get the line statistics. Connect the modem to the test jack at the NID and check the statistics again. If there is any significant deviation in attenuation or SNR, then you have a problem with your house wiring. If the SNR is below 10 at the NID, call CL for a line check. You can also send an email to: talktous@centurylink.com

anon posted : hi, I have a 3M century link internet access for a year, I am using 660 series dsl modem + Belkin wireless router model:f7D1301. I had no problem with it till I moved to new house, now it disconnect from internet randomly and come back to life after 1 min. it happens many times per day and drived me crazy. I have tried to reset modem and router to factory setting but it didn't work. Power cycling also didn't work. it doesn't matter if I connect my laptop to router by cable or wireless, it happens in both cases. I thought the problem is with router, then I tried to connect modem directly to laptop, and still some times it gets disconnected from internet for 1 min and come back again. any suggestion?
