Re: [Rant] Why do people think they can use me to google things?

I have one guy that annoys me. Sends me random texts asking questions. I am not sure he is even interested in getting things but just wants to sound that he is in the know. Many times he throws technical terms to me in questions and makes it even more obvious he does not know what he he asking about. Some real samples of texts:

Android or iOS?
Where can I get a playstation cheap?
What should I get? An iPad 3 or iPad 2
Should I get Uverse or Cable?
What is the fastest speed I can get on cable?
Do you have an extra HDMI cable?
What do you think about HTML5?
What do you think about Web 2.0
Should I get 3g or 4g?

I had been telling him he needed to get an external HDD to back up his stuff since he kept messing up his computer. Would bring it to me every month. I told him spend the $60 and get an external drive. He only had like 80 gigs of crap on his machine. Took him like three years to finally get one. He was insisting on getting a 1 or 2 Terabyte drive. Another term I am sure he heard somewhere and wanted to impress.

Same guy, I backed up his stuff as I always do when I worked on his computer. Asked him if he needed anything backed up. He said no but I backed up anyways. When I gave him his machine I asked him to check all was well. He said he did. Three years later (one month before I deleted the his backup to make space for my stuff) he sends me a message "hey I dont have my honeymoon pictures. Do you have them?"

Gotta love those people. I had someone like that who was horrified that she might have lost her wedding pictures......good thing I make images of every persons's computer I work on, before I work on them.

I had this one girl who would basically text me expecting FREE help - I only had been out with her for 3 dates, and decided to call it off.

Anyway I'm getting these random texts about Macs, something I hardly know about.

She responds with "WHAT? ARENT YOU A TECH GUY? HOW DO YOU NOT KNOW"

I said "bring it to the apple store, have a nice day"

lol.

What I can't stand are people who try to use "Google" as a verb.

Google IS a verb. Get used to it.

Goo·gle /gugl/ Show Spelled [goo-guhl] Show IPA noun, verb, Goo·gled, Goo·gling.
noun Trademark .
1. brand name of a leading Internet search engine, founded in 1998.

verb (used with object)
2. ( often lowercase ) to search the Internet for information about (a person, topic, etc.): We googled the new applicant to check her background.
