Re: Pleased with DGN2200 for AT&T DSL Direct

Ive had the DGN-2000 for a few years now and have been pleased as well. It just works. ....which is what you want from an all in one unit.

Glad you're happy with it too. I have one question about it perhaps you can answer.

I have a home wireless WPA2 network (primary) with open sharing access between two computers and a USB hard drive that works great. However, I also want a second wireless WPA2 network (a guest network) that is a public one for visitors to sign into to access the internet when they come by. Having visitors use that guest network provides me better security than letting them sign into my home network.

The router wireless settings options permit you to set up four network profiles, but neither the User nor Setup Manuals get into it in any detail as to whether or not the DGN2200 can radio (broadcast) more that one network at a time. I have set the guest network up, but no one can connect to it when they enter the correct passphrase even though their laptops can handle WPA2 security protocols.

Do you know if the DGN2200 can broadcast more than one network at a time? If so, how many?

Just retired my DGN2200 network as I have switched to cable, but for me, outside of being a hot running unit, it has been ver un-fussy, and performs well.

I do not believe that you can broadcast more than one SSID with this unit.

It broadcasts up to 4 public or private wi-fi networks. The security settings for each can be different, but the max speed for the primary network must be used for the others too.
