I'd like to have channel bonding... I'm not picky, it can be upstream or downstream. Lol

"Channel bonding doesn't do anything to increase overall upstream capacity, but it does combine several channels to boost peak upstream speeds"

Isn't that factually incorrect? More channels = more capacity, it has nothing to do with "peak" speeds.

What will Comcast do when Verizon starts offering speeds faster than 150mbps?

It can better load balance the data

as they have the channels already (ok not always) they just aren't bonded so if you end up with a few light users on one channel and a bunch of heavy users on another then they aren't very balanced

but then bond them together and its better balanced and can give higher burst speeds

so in saying it doesn't add capacity while technicaly true it does better make use of the capacity, and then they're also cleaning up the upstream to allow more of the upstream channels to be used, or used at higher QAM configs

though I agree the wording is suspect as it can be misleading to some and thus shows some bias

Comcast has once again started upstream bonding tests in my area. I currently have 3 bonded upstream channels and the Comcast speed test results typically show ~15-20 mbps upstream on my 12/2 service.

Here is a screen shot that I just took showing a nearly symmetrical 27/28 mpbs test result on my 12/2 service:

Gotta love it, it amazes me how many ways "they" have found to increase cable internet speeds... 5 years ago I was lucky to have something like 3\.7 and now I have 25\4 for roughly the same price. 15 years ago I was thrilled when my modem would connect at 33kbps to AOL

Can't wait to see what epoc brings

I have had 8 down 2 up for months now.

Are there still areas that only have 1 up?

Unfortunately, I'm still suffering in my part of NJ with only 1 upstream channel. It freaking sucks! I had upstream bonding in July of last year, but it disappeared in the middle of the month. It seems every area around me has bonding, yet closest to Philadelphia there is nothing. I've tried both the SMC D3G modem and the SB6120, but I still only get one channel. I'm a business class customer, so I don't know if that has an affect on my results. Is there a difference between residential and business customers?

For the record, I had a 3 1/2 hour outage that started a little after midnight on 2/17. After that, it seems like all of the reports of upstream bonding began coming in.

I'm not in NJ, but I am a business class customer using an SMCD3G on 12/2 service, and I have 4 downstream and 3 upstream channels. We had upstream tests here last summer too that lasted about a month. Upstream bonding started again about a week ago.

Here is the line monitor chart showing when it happened (the occasional local maintenance glitch is the only time I see an outage, so they tend to stand out).

That sucks if you are getting left out, but from Comcast's perspective, they are still basically beta testing upstream bonding, so it is probably better to use less populated areas for the tests in case something unthinkable happens and the whole area goes dark.

Been there, done that, and believe me you don't want to be the one whose fingerprints are on the equipment cabinet.

I love it when we rural areas get ahead of the big cities, it happens so rarely.

I doubt its rural areas since the SF bay area was one of the first ones to get it It probably just depends on the local Comcast division and when their techs want to implement it.

Well, it's rural up here I'm 120 miles north of SF, in Redwood VALLEY, not Redwood CITY.

I'm getting 36/6 here in Redwood Valley too. We're on Blast, 20/4.

Edit-Okay, I see we have crossed channels, no pun intended. What I meant by my post was we have 4 bonded download channels and 2 bonded uploaded channels.

We had upstream bonding, lost it about a year ago, and just got it back. One thing I have noticed is that things were rock solid on my connection before upstream bonding was re-enabled, and now I am seeing T3 and T4 errors and my modem has rebooted spontaneously several times in the last couple of weeks.

Previously my modem would stay up until I rebooted....60 days or more.

Chicagoland area? We had bonding on the upstream for several months, about a year ago and has since gone away. Anyone know when it's coming back?

Sorry guys, I misread your posts. My eMTA is locked on to 4 down and 3 up. However, I do know that there are 8 channels allocated for HSI downstream, just only 4 in use for now in 860+ systems in this area.

I am in Patterson, NY and I have 4 channel bonding but I have not seen the symmetrical DS or US. I just upgraded to Blast Plus and the speeds are really good with the D3 Cisco modem.
