Jesus, as much as people want to give Blizzard crap for this move being "desperate", it's brilliant in how effective it is. Lately, a *lot* of inactive people are coming back.

Yep you can. I SoR'd two inactive accounts I have and both of those are able to send SoR's of their own now. Also as stated, the mount only becomes available after they pay for 30 days of game time but even if they pay immediately it uses up the free 7 days first so you have to wait 7 days for the mount to be available.

Oh and in case anyone was wondering you CAN to an account transfer while under the free 7 days. You can't do an account transfer as part of the free server transfer (even though they are the same thing when you pay for it). I did this last night. I had an old battle chest edition account on my b.net account I wanted to get a free bump to cata.

I also figured I might as well take one of my toons and "remake" them to an insta 80. Emptied out my priest and deleted her to retake the name. Poof reborn as an 80 AND transferred back over to my main account. I figured $25 was better to pay that an ongoing $15 just to keep access to her now.

Stay or not, it does show that Blizzard's promotion is working - it's gotten the word out about their product and seems to be very popular.

But yes, whether or not the promotion is effective will be another matter entirely.

On that Note. On my shitty little server i has seen tons of new 80s pop up (via both the achievement popup and inspecting.)

I don't think this is quite clear - as far as I am aware you can boost a character AND server/faction transfer that character, but no other.

So you CAN take a level 1, boost it to 80 and transfer it, but you can NOT boost a level 1 and transfer a different toon.

Is this right?

I am thinking about returning. I currently have a bulk of my characters over on Bleeding Hollow. I stopped playing last year, but I want to try the LFR system as well as starting a new toon. I am not done with my MBA though until August....do I really want to start playing again only to be disappointed with the PvP when I start up? I could wait until the expansion so my PvP gear won't be total crap for raiding.

I'm having a blast with the game but it's not really because of WoW. It's the people. YMMV

I've two inactive US accounts in addition to the one I currently play. If I send a scroll to one of my inactive accounts, is there a way to later merge the inactive with my active, or will I be stuck paying an additional $15/month if I want to enjoy the newly boosted lvl80?

Yeah only downside is it's $25 a toon with no bulk discounts. The names on the accounts also have to match, or at least the last name has to match. If they're both your account though and especially if they're under the same battle.net account they won't even bat an eye. The $25 one time fee is better than paying $15 a month if you just want access to one toon honestly. But if you've got a bunch of toons to move it can add up.

Yeah they are leftover from my multi-boxing days, so I don't have many toons on them. I'd probably be looking at $50-$75 an account (the boosted toon and the one or two high level toons already on the accounts).

What I'd really love to do is move my original main from my EU account to my US account. I wonder if they are allowing that yet.

It's actually a really good time to come back. You get a few months to get back into the swing of things and to get some honor and conquest in the bank for when MOP comes out.

As far as PVP gear for raiding, that's becoming impractical for MOP with the way they are redoing the stats for PVE and PVP gear. But with quest gear for reaching 90, new heroics, and LFR, you will have a decent basic raid set shortly after hitting 90.

Not to mention you get to see and be a part of all the pre-expansion events and patches (Theramore, etc).

I did, if you're talking about how they are putting resil as bonus damage and healing vs players. It'll function at a lower ilvl equivalent of pve gear, so while you can use it, it'll be inferior to pve gear.

While it's been a few weeks, perhaps I either misunderstood or there has been an update since? Feel free to let me know what I've missed.

They are making the PVP Power and PVP Defense stats have zero cost in the item level budget. This means that the only difference between PVE gear and PVP gear in PVE is the "minor" (their words) increase in iLvl for PVE gear. Granted the PVP gear probably won't be completely itemized for raid stats (expertise, hit), pretty much every tier ever has had a hit trinket available to everyone for little work.

Only mage you can touch at 85 is arcane. This is of course assuming equal skill. Fire and Frost mages will #($*& on you.

Ahhh, then I did misunderstand it. I just quickly read it since I don't do a lot of PVP so it didn't really apply to me.

I'm 1000% with Snuff and mages. I avoid mages like the plague in PVP. Not sure I've ever even seen an arcane mage in a BG. It's all frost, all kite, all the time.
