I think what they do is whatever role you queue as and enter as is your roll bonus role. Fights that only need 1 tank, the second tank goes DPS usually but they still get roll bonus on tank gear I believe. Could be wrong of course. |

Agreed, that would have been one hell of a bug and should not have happened. Also, it couldn't have been the caster shield, the warrior shouldn't have had a need option on it anyway. But of course since it's a possible bug who knows what could have happened. |

Not a fluke. Tank needs with a Need+ (ie. an extra roll added to his total), Arms warrior needs with a Need (standard roll). If both of the tank's rolls suck & the arms warrior's one roll is decent, then the Arms warrior walks away with the tank shield.
(edit) Maybe the Need+ works in a different manner, but the difference is so arbitrary, I can't tell a difference when looting in LFR. Need+s seem to get overwritten by Needs often enough, I stopped trying to make sense of it all. I've just found that if you don't roll Need dice each and every time it's up (regardless of the plus bonus there or not), you simply won't get any loot period. |

Orange, CA | Need+ is +100 to a standard 1-100 roll, so the lowest you can possibly roll with a bonus is 101, and the highest you can roll without is 100. Ergo, role bonus always beats a non-bonus roll. The whple thing is meant to allow Main spec (as determine by class and role) > Offspec (as determined by need eligibility by class) > green = disenchant.
And thus metta experienced a bug, if described correctly.
Also, stupid English homonyms makes this hard to type correctly. |

kudos:3 | There's supposedly other bonuses in play as well to the roll system (ie. some kind of non-loot-won bonus) and other things. But again, the only way to get any items at all is just to click the Need dice any & all the time. I can't keep track of all the various ways that rolls can get altered...I just know that there doesn't appear to be any penalty at all for Need+/Need-ing for everything - even if you do have the item in question already. |

Orange, CA | The "non-loot-won" bonus is only if two identical items drop, you only get the roll bonus on the first item if you win it. If the items are distinct, there's no addition or removal of bonuses.
But yes, roll Need always. Everyone else does. Which is of course, why they are changing the system. |

Have to this this was a good idea. It got my Gf back into the game, playing her new shaman as well as her old main.
I wish they would drop the subscription price to 10$ before bulk discounts. Just thought I would throw that out there. |
