He dissed the Jets 15 years ago by returning to school when they held the #1 pick. I honestly feel like the Colts know something is wrong with Manning and this is why they got rid of him.

Yea they knew something was wrong with his salary. You can't pay a QB top dollar with a "?" hanging over your head. Provided be can get back to 75-80% of this former level he'll be a steal for a new team.

I am in no room to say there is or not something wrong with him. But it is hard to be in the position to get a franchise QB. I can't hate the decision for the Colts to shed 28 million and draft 1 of 2 great QB prospects that are looking like they will be franchise QB's. It was the smart move, not the easiest but smart.

Every team in the league knows something's wrong with him. He's had 4 neck surgeries, and the nerves in his arm haven't fully regained the ability to throw passes the way he did before. He's been "cleared to play" due to his neck, but that doesn't mean he'll ever be able to throw the ball the way an NFL QB has to again. That's why he's not working out publicly, to show his throwing ability now -- he doesn't have his full ability back yet. It may come back and may not.

I agree completely, and you can bet everyone in the league knows exactly what sort of condition he's in, day to day.
And with all of my kidding around about him going to the Jets, I still think the right decision may be to retire.
But I also firmly believe that Peyton is smart enough to know whatever decision he makes will be the right one.
I somehow doubt he would even want to play, if he knew full well he couldn't play to his full potential. Guess we'll all just have to wait around and see what happens.
The outcome should be interesting (to say the least), whatever it is.

Frankly I think he has seen his best days.

Let's see, another big name whose best days are behind him, will cost a lot of $$$$.....he'll go to Washington.

Even if Washington offers him the most guaranteed money, I don't think he'd play there. Their records the last 3 years are 4-12, 6-10, 5-11. The Shanahans are control freaks, and when the offensive coordinator is the coach's son and has already butted heads with one veteran QB, it's only a matter of time until he'd be butting heads with Manning. The Redskins offensive line is pretty porous; actually they just suck. I can see the Redskins bidding for Manning but I can't see him going to work for them.

Looks like you are right. Reports are that the Redskins are out of the running.

Yeah, was just watching the 10:00 news. First I heard of it. Came here, and sure enough, you guys were right on top of it.
Does Sanchez warm the bench as a backup next season? Lol.

Been a Jets fan that's what I want to see, on top of all that, both Manning brothers, in the same city in the same stadium, imagine the frenzy!

Get rid of the 2nd stringer and put Sanchez on the bench.

I put money on Miami though.

No, to me it's about money, do you shell out, what? $28m and take a chance on Manning next year, or do you say F it, take a hit for a couple of years with the fans and try your luck with a rookie QB?

Stevie Wonder could see that one coming. Man, I sure would like to see him as a Texan, but I know that's not going to happen.

That would be awesome. Not realistic, but sweet justice.

He has to go to teams known for recycling old QBs for a few years; Oakland and Minnesota come to mind. I don't understand why the Cardinals fans are chomping at the bit to get him. Its not like when they got Kurt Warner in his twilight and took a team to the Super Bowl.

Yep, just read that: »www.indystar.com/article/2012030···v%7Chead

So the Colts strategy is for a complete ground up rebuild around Luck or RG3.

If you keep ending up in the cellar for a few years, you can build around high draft picks. Not a great strategy for the paying fans, but a good strategy for the team.

So far Manning has visited Denver and Arizona, without signing. He's expected to go to his home in Miami next. Not sure if he'll be talking to the Dolphins or not.

Titans owner Bud Adams says he wants Manning on the Titans.
