It all depends on the current CRTC R&V on the pricing for capacity. Still waiting for the outcome of that proceeding.

Could the Start speed increase be related to this?

yeah I think 300GB may even be enough for me but %90 of my entertainment is from online. just have to keep paying rogers $84 a month for my uncapped business line.

My cap is at 80GB with Cogeco. It's all right but I rather have Start's 300GB

Hi there, I just signed up online and bought my D3 modem through you guys. Is that the modem you guys are sending me? I want to make sure I'm not getting a piece of junk!

We don't sell pieces of junk... but yes, your modem will be a brand new Cisco DPC 3000. Thanks for your support and looking forward to having you with us.

When I step through the sign-up process, it says the modem will be a DCM475, is this not correct? Or is this the modem type for Rogers customers and the Cisco is for Cogeco?

Correct - the DPC3000 is approved for Cogeco, the DCM475 is approved on the other network.

It means that it would not matter how much monthly data traffic that you make flow, in other words, your Monthly Usage.

Bandwidth, on the other hand, is the technical name for Speed.

So the 16/1 speed rating of a START Advanced account thru the Cogeco network is the Bandwidth, and the 300 GB is the Monthly Usage.

That means that the recent higher numbers we have been seeing in our Speed tests are temporary Bandwidth increases.

IIRC, GOUGEco does not presently have a plan like yours.

aka Mister Rogers' 'Hood

Good thing that Mister Rocca has a plentitude of volunteers on hand at all times to say/type the 'R' word.

Bear in mind that the DCM476 has recently been approved for the Cogeco network, as in the START online order form screenshot in the current post at this link :

I'm curious to know if any forum members in Cobourg (Cogeco territory) are using Start with the 16 meg package, and what kinds of reliability and speeds they are getting (in light of the fact that many customers seem to be getting higher-than-advertised speeds).

Yumpin Yimminy !

Good thing I was sittling down when I read that.

Even then, it would have been easy to FOC.

One other thing :

Anyone who would PAY them that price ought to be committed !

So Rocca, does this mean you'll be offering the DCM476 for sale in Cogeco land soon?
I am only on the 16meg plan in Niagara, so I don't need a D3 modem, but I see many people getting more than their rated speed when using a D3 modem, and I want one anyway for forward upgradability.
The DCM476 looks like a better modem than the DPC3000, so if you will be offering it soon, I'll hold off on buying the DPC3000 for a bit.

I signed up for the advanced 28 meg $49.95 package. It is strange because we are on Rogers cable for the tv. We were told that as far as Rogers is concerned, any issues are through Start, not rogers. I'm liking that idea since rogers won't price match start nor teksavvy for that matter.

I bet Start's POP mail server is way more reliable than the stupid Cogeco POP mail server.
