So much of the days of sitting as a family and watching a show or going outside and doing something that gives a better benefit then youtube.
Does your family skype each other in the house instead of talking lol. Lol exactly what I was thinking... Some people really make it sound like they got no life outside of the Internet >. |

Explains why so many people in real life or so rude or have problem being in a social environment, have trouble communicating, etc. All they do is sit in front of a computer all day everyday. ^Note the above is my opinion, based on real life experiences. |

and yet you act like an ass then say people have issues communicating. Nothing says cool like saying how much a cool guy you are online. It takes all of 10 mins to download some stuff and queue it up by the by.
All you did was make yourself an ass. internet you win at it. whatever makes you feel better about yourself I guess. |

If you're downloading blu-ray 1080P rips then I can understand where the high usage is coming from. Otherwise you seriously need to get out more. Where do you get all the time to watch all that content? >.> |

Why are you judging someone's life over how much a person is downloading?
I don't have any rights, you don't have any rights and NOBODY has any rights to judge anyone's life except yourself!!!
In all fairness, everyone is entitled to their shit and has reasons to do what he/she does. And if you become social, what are you going to do? Talk shit about people, going to be like a gossip girl? |

If it makes you feel any better, my usage was 1.2 TB last month. What are you going to say about that? I don't have a life? Okay buddy, move on... |

Enjoy your TB of downloads. And to be fair, your 1.2TB is "measly" as it's only averaging 40GB/day... |

Less than 600gb over 30 days is less than 20gb/day, not 75 to 80.
That could be 1 movie in 1080p format. |

Re: Start Communications - new TPIA Rogers/CogecoIt would be really great if the could just offer both plans. The free 2 am to 8 am is great for downloaders, but not so good for people who like to stream videos. I've my own analysis and for it is pretty much a break even proposition. But using the free time period would be much effort.
New customers who do not schedule downloads will simply see: Start = 200 GB, Cogeco = 275 GB. |

Unfortunately that's the way the tariffed costs are right now, I know Cogeco is working hard to prevent exodus and we'll continue to improve when/where we can. Obviously Cogeco's own network cost continues to go down, yet our rates are still super-compensatory. Hopefully new customers will also see Start = $50, Cogeco = $72 (with another Cogeco hike rumoured in May/June), and the vast majority of consumers are still well under 100GB (even many lighter streamers - ie about 100 hours/month) so for many people this will mean a significant savings. |

No. Ultimately I guess it is a marketing decision. You could probably offer some sort of 300 GB that was still below the Cogeco $72/month at a profit, but it probably would make the 200 GB plan with free hours at $50/month seem less valuable. |

Here is another option that could distinguish Start. The way the tarrifs work, you don't really care about individual daily traffic. You care about the total traffic in peak hours over time. So something none of the other companies do you could offer is to roll over your unused data one month forward. This would attract customers that say only use an average of 100 GB per month, but I worried they might once or twice a year exceed the 200 GB limit. |

Sounds like then there is some wiggle room. Start could offer another plan with a higher limit, and at a higher price and still come out ahead of Cogeco. Another alternative, I've been wondering if anyone has considered is being able to bring forward your unused portion of the data cap. Probably not everything, as eventually you might have someone sitting there with 1 TB of unused data they'll decide to use all at once. But say, bring up to 50% of your plan's cap forward. So say someone used 80 GB of a 200 GB plan, then 100 GB of the unused 120 GB could be brought forward, giving them 300 GB for the next month. Say that month they also just used 80 GB. Then 100 GB of the unused 220 GB would be brought forward again to the next month, again giving them a 300 GB cap. While this would not attract huge data users, it would attract customers who normally don't use that much data, but want to have some protection on the months they do. It also gives the customer a chance to notice there usage patterns have changed and they should probably change plans before they encounter an unexpectedly large bill. |

Also, while it is not obvious at first what the advantage is to most folks, START does NOT count UPLOADS, while GOUGEco DOES, AFAIK. If you are seeding torrents (for example), that can make a serious difference as to how quickly or not you reach your monthly usage cap. PLUS, if you DO exceed your monthly usage cap, START STILL does not charge for uploads, while you-know-who DOES, and the extra downloads after that will cost only one half as much in UBB per GB at START. |

Due to the thread being long, it does that. In threads like this one, 'Post #4' births each new page, or you can edit the URL to add 20 to whatever it has in the number near the right (start=xxxx), and force the system to display hidden posts.Your clue to whether or not there are any hidden posts is to either count how many posts are in the highest numbered page (max 20 before the system is SUPPOSED to begin a new page), or check whether the name of the 'last poster' matches when inside the thread vs outside on the forum threads list page, and if it does not match, then there are hidden posts in the birth canal. |
