[Modem] Westell 6200 modem

Thanks for all the help on the westell 2100 etc. But I have a Westell/Netgear 6200. Does that modem work in bridge mode and can we follow the procedure (15855) you describe for setting up a Linksys router with a Motorola 2210 modem???

The 6200 has a bridge mode and the modem can be bridged without connecting a telephone/dsl cable
Be sure you end the current pppoe session before starting a new pppoe session
The bridge mode setting is found on the ppp location page

Thanks for your response - very helpful since bridge mode is hidden on the mode pull down list. Still having trouble setting up a Linksys E4200 router because the router does not come up at 192.168.1.1. Took a long time to find the router at 172.27.221.83. probably different the next time.

PS: Thanks again, how can you end the current pppoe session and how can you be sure you are really in bridge mode when you can no longer address the DSL modem at 192.168.1.254?

The "Ethernet" light on the 6200 goes dark when bridged.

Change the pppoe username/password to attreg@att.net/attreg and let the modem make a connection then change to bridge mode

The reason you cannot address the DSL modem at 192.168.1.254 is because bridge mode disables the modems dhcp server

If you set a computers ip address to 192.168.1.64 and set the subnet mask to 255.255.255.0 and connect that computer directly to the modem you will be able to address the DSL modem at 192.168.1.254
