4100b (vel 4101) and brtr mode

I had few of 4100 and 5100. There was always good to set: cfg sys{mode=brtr

Lately I had 4101 (4100b) and this one acts different. When "brtr" is set both devices br0 and em0 are up and box works as bridge. No way to login via http or telnet. Only RS232 console works. I should say that I had set eth{host{bind=rtr but it seems to be ignored. Switching sys mode to rtr closed br0 device and let me in.

Could someone explain me what exactly is brtr and rtr?
What are the differences ?
