Based on the box, your unit says it include an App to allow you to manage your home network from a smartphone. Don't know if the E4200 allows that so this may be the difference between what you bought and that model.

Actually, I believe that most of the E-series routers can use that app, although this is the first time that it is specifically referred to on the box. I downloaded it for my android phone, its also available for iPhones.
