[DSL] ADSL2+ Intearleaving

I was wondering how i could see if my line is interleaved and if it is worth it to turn it off.

Shutting off Interleaving helps with cutting down on latency to the first hop, but having it on helps if your line is known to disconnect, by providing a little more leg room for noise-related issues (Interleaving = Error Checking).

If you're using a Siemens Modem from Frontier, check your modem's System Log after the modem has booted. If you have a Westell or ActionTec modem from Frontier (or Verizon), check the DSL Statistics. You can also run a traceroute during a non-congested time and find out that way too.

Looks like you might have Interleaving. Get your Transceiver Statistics for us to confirm it's on and to see if you've got room to have it shut off.

Try: »192.168.1.1/htmlV/transtat.asp

If that gives a 404 Not Found error, go to »192.168.1.1/ and choose System Monitoring. Click on Advanced Statistics, and then click on Transceiver Statistics.

It says my Data Path is on Fast so i guess i just have a low quality line.

Not always. Sometimes the data path on ADSL2+ is misreported, so it might be Interleaved mode still. I've seen that a few times with Verizon's own network. There's also some other factors that make up the latency as well, such as congestion and how the fiber is routing between COs and each hop.

Sorry about not being clearer.

What I would do in this case is check with a local Frontier tech if you do see them to verify if your line is on FastPath or not. Typically the statistics are not false, but the traceroute is suggesting otherwise (unless there's congestion).
