Re: [DSL] 6 to 12 upgrade - Downtime??

@m3chen: Woohoo!!! Glad to hear you're up and running!!! Is the Bell tech the second tech? I thought that was the tech that was supposed to go into the house to do something-something! When/how did you know the new service was up? Did you just have the 30 minutes of downtime (not 7 hours i hope??)?

@Khiera:

I should add an update to this: Bell should be one of the two techs (it seems like they come whenever they like) and the Telecon tech was supposed to be the guy who was going to setup my wiring to the modem or at the very least my POTS splitter. Its almost comical how bad this could have gone and almost did go.

In the end I had over 30 minutes of no telephone service and over 7 hours of internet downtime. My line profile is current at 792 (up) / 16319 (down). I'm just happy to be back online and am going to see if things stablize so that I can then put in a request next week to get up to the full speeds (Dillyhammer got himself put up to 1088 (up) / 19613 (down).

Hopefully your install goes better than mine!

@m3chen: 7 hours of downtime!!!!!!

I still can't understand why the experience of a supposedly standard activation process differs so widely for so many different customers (downtime/no downtime, tech showed up/tech didn't show up, nothing happen/something happened) ... good grief!! At this point i'm extremely anxious about my upcoming activation and just want it done and over with already ...

Glad you're back online though! Hope they put you on your requested line profile without issue next week!

Did any of the tech call 1st before they come? It seems that they come whenever they like to...no wonder they put TENTATIVELY activate on email ..... I guess we have no control about that and it's a big problem for those who have to work at the office, we can take a day off at home and wait for the tech to come but if it never show up...we can't take off continuously each day and wait until he came.......

@jdvif: None of the techs called the number I listed on my order. Thank god my parents were home and expecting people to come otherwise I might have missed the first tech. Like I said earlier to Khiera, you should call in the day before to confirm that your install for the next day is actually happening.

@Khiera:
Let me know how your install goes today! (Hopefully better than mine!)

@m3chen:

My install is tomorrow. Planning to call Tek after 1pm to confirm that it's still a go for tomorrow ... I figure that if Bell is going to pull a last minute switcheroo their techs should know their schedule for the next day by noon :P Plan to call again first thing tomorrow morning to make sure techs are still coming, at least if they do change then I can still make it into work for half a day and not have to waste a whole day of vacation ... I'll let you know how it goes, hopefully with minimal hiccups!
