reggie29Premium join:2004-05-19 Gresham, OR 1 edit | [FiOS] Check your new Frontier bill closely - Gresham area I downloaded this month's billing now prepared on Frontier's system and noticed that the amount due had increased $7.55 over last month's bill with no change in service. Three things stood out: (1) I was charged a month to month rate rather than a contract rate for my 25/25 internet (2) Under taxes there was a $4.20 charge for "Gresham OR PEG Fee" (3) There was a $139.99 charge for a "FiOS Wireless Router" and then a credit back of the same amount called "Non-Recurring "
I called and talked to an agent and confirmed that my account shows no record of the contract I had agreed to last October. He didn't know anything about the PEG fee but was able to tell me that it was at 3%. It so happens that 3% of $139.99 is $4.20. No doubt I was charged the $4.20 because of Frontier's bookkeeping entry regarding the router I received from Verizon many years ago. The agent's fix was to set up a new contract for me effective today and issue a onetime $10 credit to correct the billing errors. We will see if the billing is back to normal next month. If you find your amount due is larger this month than usual you might look first for the items I listed. |

| reply to reggie29 The "PEG fee" is one imposed by your franchise authority (Gresham, Oregon, no doubt) and is allowed to be passed directly to you under the terms of the franchise agreement. My bill has a "PEG Grant Fee" of $0.35 for the City of Redmond, WA. I read the franchise agreement for here and it says that the amount is fixed by the city council and can't go higher than $1.50/mo. The Gresham franchise appears to cap at 5%. |

Called and got it fixed without any issue. Thankfully, that's the only thing that stood out. Of course, my old login from the ncnetwork.net website doesn't work anymore so I have to create a new one. |

Their website doesn't look completed. Go to the Frontier website at www.frontier.com. On the left side of the screen under "Current Customers" click the "My Online Bill" button. A login screen appears. I found that my old NC Network username and password worked fine so I didn't need to enroll. You are then taken to "My Frontier Bill" page where in the Statement History section you should see your latest bill and then click on the statement date to display the statement.
My account billing just cycled the other day. Maybe your account has not yet been billed on Frontier's system so you might not be able to see your latest statement. None of the NC Network billing history was brought over so I've lost access to any of my old bills. However customer service can still get at those records. |

My problem with "Gresham PEG fee" billed is that it was caused by Frontier's internal bookkeeping entries to charge me $139.99 for the FiOS Router that I had received years ago when I first started service with Verizon and then they credited me back that same $139.99 but used a different code. Frontier's system only used one side of the transaction in calculating the $4.20 fee, which is an error. |

 | reply to reggie29 I called in to inquire, and they couldn't find my contract; however, the monthly price was still at $43.69. I asked if they offer any discount for contractual plans, and they do offer 5% discount for 2-year contracts. |

The agent I spoke with said they now offer that same discount with a 1-year contract, but I'll wait to see if that actually shows up on my next bill. |

 | I actually prefer 2-year contracts. |

1 edit | reply to reggie29 I just received my "new and improved" Frontier statement for March. The amount was higher than previous months so I took a look at the line items and came across this:
"FIOS Video Surcharge...$5.78" ???
What is that for and where did it come from? It's the weekend so I can't call them until Monday, but I was wondering if anyone else had seen the same thing on their bill? Did I just miss it before?
TIA for any feedback. |

wesmPremium join:1999-07-29 Redmond, WA | Looking at a reply on the "new bill?" thread I started, someone in Redmond, WA said that the "video franchise fee" had changed names to "FiOS video surcharge" and was the same amount. |

Is that for FiOS TV? |

 | reply to wesm Ah, got it. Thanks for that.
I noted that when Frontier CEO Maggie Wilderotter (who's annual salary is more than $3MM dollars) took over back in 2006 Frontier's stock had a high of around $15/share. Today it's hovering around $4/share. It's amazing that the board of directors continues to put any faith into her "leadership". What a mess. |

While Maggie hasn't done that good of a job in charge of Frontier, the fact that the amount of shares out there skyrocketed when WE were split off from VZ. That pretty much diluted the stock to begin with, she has just kept it down at it's current levels. |

I'll bet you or I could accomplish that for a paltry mil or so! |
