Prints Mounted on MDF.

What are the pros and cons? I have seen some that look pretty good and I'm considering getting some of mine mounted on MDF (block mounting).

Any insights? Suggestions for and against?

Ralph.

MDF in natural state is pretty acidic. Usually they use an acid free adhesive to lessen the effect. In the open it should be OK.

I'd mount it on 1/2 foam core or ultra core( really thick sizes) then attach it to the MDF but if the print isn't a big deal you can get away with mounting it directly. They even have self stick foam core for large prints.

Thanks!! Where can one buy self stick foam core? I've never seen 1/2" thick foam core. Where can one get that from too?

Ralph.

Sorry didn't see your reply. Here is one place, I can't vouch for them but seems they have a good variety, ver going to the local art or crafts store »www.foamcoreheaven.com/
