Re: [IE] dell.msn.com Re-direct. Any solution?

Checked the HOSTS file?

The two sites have unique IP's.

So how do I edit that file? I've never messed with it before to be honest.

If you want to upload it, I (or anyone) can check it out to see if your problem is a result of something in it. There are no security risks or anything to be concerned of. No personal info is stored in it.

Otherwise just see if dell.msn.com is listed in the file - if so, just delete the entire line and see if the problem is still there. If the line isn't there, its not your issue.

When you ping msn.com, what IP does it resolve to? How about dell.msn.com?

If you don't understand "how" to edit the file (in other words, how to even open it), I'll leave this here:

Start > run > notepad c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

The hosts file is empty, except for the examples they show. Both msn.com and dell.msn.com resolve to 207.46.140.34.

You redacted while I was composing.

I appreciate your insight, and thought you were likely right until I saw that little piece of code they stuck in there to persistently change it back around all the time.

I use OpenDNS, but it seems it wouldn't matter how they got looked up with the way it was done.

Thanks again.

I would agree - glad you got it resolved and good to know for future reference too.
