DavesnothereNo-BHELL-ity DOES have its Advantages join:2009-06-15 START&Cogeco kudos:6 4 edits | START has a Discussion Forum at DSLR ! Some folks have suggested that there should be a user forum here for START Communications.
Well, no sooner said than done !
(Actually there already IS one)
As START's new Cable services thru ROGERS & especially COGECO will undoubtedly generate much interest (and traffic) on DSLR, here is the web address for this forum :
START's Forum on DSLR : »Start Communications
Reviews of START on DSLR (Read or Post) : »Company entry - Start Communications
START's Website : »www.start.ca/
You can bookmark these in your browsers for now.
Please, if Moderator 'State' reads this, he might be able to help us to add START to the ad-hoc public forums member-submitted list and page (START is already is in the larger 'Rolodex'), and then we can link to it in the same manner as we do to eBox's ad-hoc public forum.
Thanks.

DavesnothereNo-BHELL-ity DOES have its Advantages join:2009-06-15 START&Cogeco kudos:6 | What, you mean 'Please Ignore' this forum ? |
|
 | It should be placed under Canadian and not under that Company Start with S. It's impossible to find! |

For now, just Bookmark the direct links which I included in my OP for everyone's convenience.
Then we'll see what STATE can do to help make it easier.
We had the exact same issue with eBOX and it got solved. |

Here is the header for the CBB forum.
Look where it says 'Member Submitted List' (bottom right).
We hope to soon have START Communications on that list.
I trust that to be easy enough for most folks. |

We'll try not to bother you too often, but START's new Cable thru Cogeco is what made so many of us pay them recent attention.
Nobody else has made such a ground-breaking announcement lately, and we hope that they are successful in this expansion of their services.

My feeling is that unless DSLR is willing to fess up and give those ISPs a real forum, then discussions should continue here. |

DavesnothereNo-BHELL-ity DOES have its Advantages join:2009-06-15 START&Cogeco kudos:6 | This is better access than what we had last year.
So are you including eBox in that observation ?
THEIR forum is starting to pick up speed. |

Is there a way to add the forum under Canadian instead of "ISPs starting with S"?
That includes Acanac and Electronicbox and the others (there are others??) I didn't even know those guys had forums until you guys mentioned it, they're all hidden away. |

I didn't even know those guys had forums until you guys mentioned it, they're all hidden away. Each is exactly 2 clicks away from the CBB forum front page, and the short list is only 1 click away.
(1) Yes - go there and then create a browser favourite/bookmark the same way as for any other site - you can even drag the address line icon to your Links Bar (IE) or Bookmarks Toolbar (FF) and have it out in the open.
(2) No, not for now - this was explained when same was asked about eBox earlier this year - apparently it is a board software issue.
This is only a 1 page thread (so far).
EVERYONE PLEASE REVIEW what I have posted earlier in this thread, as I find myself already answering some of the same questions 2 or 3x.

I didn't mean to my browser favourites, I meant to dslreports favourites which I always use to browse this site
For example if you go to the About page for Canadian broadband: »Canadian Broadband
Under Interests, you see It is not on your favorite list yet: [add it] Favorite forums keep your interests on one easy to use page
Then your favourites show up under favourite forums and updated posts here and here: »/forums/fav »/postlist |

Though I wonder what criteria has to be met to qualify for their own support forum on DSLR. -- You see there is only one constant. One universal. It is the only real truth. Causality. Action, reaction. Cause and effect.

| reply to BliZZardX I personally use the ' DSLR forum mini-bar and stick a custom icon from the box list on each forum I 'mark'. Easily accessible no matter what board I'm on. Of course you'll only see that if you're logged into DSLR. |
|
 | I use that mini-bar to access fav forums and new posts too. Where is the green + though and what does that do? |

1 edit | said by BliZZardX:I use that mini-bar to access fav forums and new posts too. Where is the green + though and what does that do? green button is on the mini-bar, U press opens up a flyout dialog where you can choose the icon you want on your min-bar to 'identify' the forum, and you can add a title to it too. The icons are fairly stock, nothing particularly "iconic" as far as themes go. When you're on a page you allready have an icon set for there is no green button because now its a red one to do the opposite and delete that icon from your mini-bar. By the way theres also a mini-bar config manager HERE

| If I click the mini-bar wrench I only get Location and Icon size options, no green buttons
This seems pretty unconventional, how did you learn about it?
I've been using Favourite Forums literally for as long as I've been registered, but the forum has to be on a special list in order to be added by users: »/forums/all?choose=1 |

My feeling is that unless DSLR is willing to fess up and give those ISPs a real forum, then discussions should continue here. I have to agree completely. The Canadian Broadband forum is the third most popular board on this site. 471 frequent posters and 2,941 members have marked it as a favorite forum. That's a lot of exposure. If I were a smaller (or relatively new or unheard of ISP) this is where I'd want my topics to be.
(Not implying that START is small, just a general statement). |
