Re: Mars Attacks !

Distributel not only had those ads on the montreal métro, but the also had "human powered" promotions at the entrance to metro stations with front page on "Métro" free newspapers.

They made a neat little video of it:

EDIT: the ad firm which did this Distributel campaign is Speed Expérientiel.

They have done some very interesting work (much of it is on their web site). (Including some for Bell's Fib in Québec City)

CRTC budget stable for 2013-13, and cut by 400,000 starting 2013-2014.

2013-13 ?

Golf season started early this year, no need to make up for a shortfall.

400k is less than 10% of CRTC's budget. If they keep the chairman's position vacated, they are already more than half way there. :P

Ott_Cable

@teksavvy.com

Sorry. Wrong Math. 400k is less than 1% of CRTC's around 50mil budget.

Not UBB related, but can't pass off this:

"CTV host allegedly tells boss to f--- himself"

>Don Martin, the host of Power Play, a political talk show on CTV News Channel, was not on-air Friday as CTV officials spent the day trying to determine what Martin may or not may have said about George Cope, chief executive officer of Bell, the conglomerate that owns CTV.

>At the party, held at a restaurant a block from Parliament Hill, Martin is alleged to have engaged in a verbal altercation with Dimitri Soudas, the former director of communications for Prime Minister Stephen Harper and now the executive director for communications for the Canadian Olympic Committee. During the course of that altercation, Martin is alleged to have told Soudas that he and Cope could “Go f--- yourselves”.

Brilliant career ending move!

If he hasn't been drinking, he could really use half a dozen bottles now.

It would be an opportunity for Bell/BCE to confirm they have no editorial control over its media empire by stating that they will not fire the guy because he criticised the CEO of a large corporation.

But because he's in a way a public figure on television, they can still fire him for inappropriate behaviour that damaged the network's image and reputation.

When you're on TV, you're pretty much on the clock 24 hours a day.

@teksavvy.com

He might not be jobless, but certainly would be "encouraged" to go. He might find some trouble with certain political party members or the Olympics for sure.

On the other hand, he might get some sympathy in the "99%" crowd. May be he can find work at Faux News North TV or other non-main stream network or trash talk shows?
