Re: [DVR] What's fios tv answer for dish's prime time anytime?

Because that's not always possible in some time slots. I don't think it's still the case, but we had conflicts on Thursdays for a while, when Grey's Anatomy, Bones, and the NBC comedies were all on at the same time. Someone in the house wanted to record each show, and there was always a loser who had to wait for On Demand or watch on Hulu. I'm not saying I'd want to record all network shows all the time, but this Hopper thing is a cool-sounding concept, and FiOS has no response.

just get an extra dvr, you will have 4 tuners to record what you want. It will be $6 more a month for another dvr over a normal stb, and you can watch any recording on any box, even between dvrs. We have 3 dvrs, just set up this week, and this was a happy surprise because when we last had it we had two dvr, but they could not share with each other and the other boxes could only see the home media dvr. Now all boxes can see each other so it's possible to coordinate what you record so you don't do things twice. We are doing that and it is working out great. I was coming from having a 722k on dish with ota tuner, so I could record 4 things at once and thought I might have to skip some things and wait for them on vod. But since my brother and I watch similar things he can record things and I record others so we don't have to wait for vod to be updated. For instance, this probably won't matter since desperate housewives is ending, but during the fall I like to watch animation domination, dh, and Sunday night football, on dish I would just watch snf on ota and record the other two on satellite. On fios I would have to probably skip dh and wait for it on on demand as that is one of the shows they provide. But since my brother also watch the fox block he just records that and I record the other two. I then just watch the stuff on fox off of his dvr.

If I had a choice , same triple play pricing, Hopper or NO hopper of course I would go with Dish and the hopper. But since Dish cant compete with the triple play pricing Im getting from FIOS (including NY sports channels) Ill stick with FIOS.
