Re: [Cable] Frequent disconnects

What's the lease time on your IP address? Is it 7 hours?

If those are seconds, then that's almost a week. So, there goes my theory

In Kanata (Ottawa)
DCM475 with 2.16

Over the past week I've been getting disconnects every 30min - 4 hrs. Its all over the place, with each one lasting about 5min while the modem resets.

I also have Rogers cable TV, but haven't seen any signal issues on the TV during this time.

That would rule out a firmware issues for us on 2.08

Don't think it's firmware related, although new firmware may help, we will never know. My trace route shows that my third hop goes to a 10.xxx.xxx.xxx address, now is that not a reserved ip range and non routable? Research on the net shows a similar problem was created down in Australia when one of their cable providers did some maintenance to their hardware. Getting an ip was from one system but renewals from another and they had f"d up the route tables. Wonder if the same is happening here. Strange how the Rogers forum has no one complaining of disconnects. What ever it is it must only be affecting TPIA customers.

Most Rogers customers don't know how to check their modem logs and even if they do call to complain probably just receive the ol' run around from their "tech support".

I'm having the same issues with my Tek cable, currently working with the Direct Forum to resolve the issue. I am running the DCM475 with the STAC.02.08 firmware on the Fallowfield Rd. POI.

Here are all of my modem logs I have compiled so far, there dosen't seem to be much of a pattern although I have noticed that the time is off on some of them. At the bottom of the log I have just received an error for tomorrow! (maybe it is predictable after all!)

Please do keep us informed as to the results of your attempt at getting help in the direct forum. It would be very interesting to see what that produces. I have just about had it with this and I will now begin looking at alternative providers. My billing cycle is mid month so I have a few weeks to check things out or worse case I will do it following month. Just can not believe that not one word from TSI on what is by this forum post, plus others like it, plus the direct forum, NOT an isolated thing but a much wider problem affecting many many users.

same here. It will be ok for a short period then I'll have random disconnects for a week straight. Teksavvy refuses to do anything about it.

Same thing with me here in Barrhaven (Ottawa South) since Sunday. Had a bad bout of connection issues in January that magically resolved themselves after a few days, and now it's back again. Speeds are almost normal today, but still a lot of packet loss at times, pages timing out, and the occasional full disconnect. It's not isolated to a particular modem or firmware, I'm using an SB6120, people with DCM475's are getting it too, yet TSI keeps insisting these are local issues. Hoping the Rogers dispatch I'll be getting in the next few days gets something sorted out, fingers crossed...

It really is surprising how times have changed, last year I would never have thought that TSI would be like it is today. I grew used to reading posts from senior TSI staff, hell even owner(s), telling us what was going on, reassuring us that they we working on things, trying to improve, work out problems. Nothing was left unanswered. They took compliments and criticism equally. They listened and responded, were pro-active, and gave the feeling they genuinely cared about each and every one of us. Problems were dealt with and where they could not be resolved at least an explanation why was provided. My how times have changed.
Today the silence is deafening. The little company that could has grown up to be the very thing that we disliked about the competition. It is not too late to right this ship. Stop treating us like mushrooms, (feeding us BS, and keeping us in the dark). These problems are real, not isolated and not just local. Let us get to the bottom of this. One more time just like it used to be for all of us that remember that little scrappy company who's staff did not know the word can't, who's owners dared to be different, come on one more time, for the good old days.

Hey counting7 See Profile

Can you elaborate

We are always here to help. Although I couldn’t find any notes about frequent disconnections on your account. I did see something on slow speeds & email issues on March 9th, but nothing since then, till today that is.

Martin

I am getting really tired of this problem. I have tried to contact Teksavvy on the phone and waited on hold for more than 30 minutes and just gave up. On the forums, I just kept getting asked more and more technical questions, which requires explanation and another few days to get replies. As a paying customer and a member of the Teksavvy community, I really want this problem resolved.
