My son sent me this picture taken in Chapel Hill, NC Wendsay night. Any ideas as to what kind of lightening this is?
"... last night there was a pretty decent thunderstorm and right across the street the sky was spitting some serious lightning bolts. So naturally I set my camera up on my tripod, ISO 1600, 10 second exposure, f7.1. I didn't capture any "normal" lightning per se, but I did capture something interesting!"

That's just movement of the camera during the exposure.

You're absolutely correct Gordo. He admitted that sometime during the storm and hundreds of pictures, he moved the camera down one step while the shutter was opening. He said he must have forgotten and since the house in the background wasn't blurred he thought he caught something interesting. Oh well...

And the shutter must have soon after closed or the background would be blurred or double exposed... but allowed the bright lights to take on lightning like character.
