Re: [STB] Comcast Interactive TVs Instant Info Widgets? said by mikedz4:I feel the same way. Unfortunately Cisco areas are going to get the new guide sometime this summer or early fall. Motorola areas will be lucky to see it by this time next year or as comcast says there is not date for motorola areas at this time. The only Cisco STBs with On-Screen Guide 2.0 are the Cisco RNG 200-N STBs with AnyRoom DVR functionality and they are just starting to be rolled out in the last few months and are currently available in only 6 states. Cisco areas in other states do not have an AnyRoom DVR functionality option.
The guide that is being released in Cisco areas starting this summer is an A28 equivalent that catches the Cisco areas up to the Motorola A28 guide.
There is no date for either Motorola STBs or non Cisco RNG 200-N STBs with AnyRoom DVR functionality to get On-Screen Guide 2.0. -- SA 8300 HD DVRs with Patched S25 Guide Links: 'S25 Guide Blog' 'Schedule' 'Info' 'Patch Thread' |

The latest info on the "Spectrum DVR" on a "Comcast" website appers to this thread on the Comcast Help and Support Forums site: »forums.comcast.com/t5/XfinityTV-···/1199421 |

There may be a more recent blog but I haven't found it.
The blog linked above is not very informative and the DSLReports thread (»[DVR] Spectrum Quad Tuner DVR revealed) has more up-to-date information. -- SA 8300 HD DVRs with Patched S25 Guide Links: 'S25 Guide Blog' 'Schedule' 'Info' 'Patch Thread' |

 | reply to FifthE1ement @FifthE1ement, Your neighbor had a PACE RNG110 and is offers Instant Info in the menu? Can you check the model number again?
What is the error you see?
Maybe you could pulling the power cable for that stb and try again the next day.
When you say the DCX3400 is "VERY SLOW!" What do you mean? Navigating between buttons is slow or going between the widgets & full screen mode is slow? Or getting updates is slow?
Wish I had this in my location in California. |

 | reply to telcodad I like how they replied they can't give dates because they can be misleading and fall behind schedule. |

Wish I had this in my location in California. OK I have all the answers for you today. I went back over to my neighbors and checked both of his Pace RNG110's. He has two different Pace RNG110 models. He has and original without RF and a newer one with RF. I think the newer ones are considered Phase 2 or 3 and have a little more memory and RF out. On the older non-RF Pace boxes you could get HDTV service without ever paying for it. But the newer boxes have an error screen (not authorized) on HD channels.
Back to the info. Like I said before just because the software/firmware numbers are higher than another doesn't mean that it is newer. Most of the times a number is just higher because it is the software/firmware for a different box. Most boxes all have different software from box to box. The guide info and software for the Pace RNG110 in my area is:
SW Ver: 78.73 - A28p0-4.1005.r-8 Firmware: 22.71
The error message that displays when I try to start the iTV widgets on the Pace RNG110 is:
"We're trying to access that feature but it's temporarily unavailable. Please try again in a few minutes.
Code: QS1"
I tried both boxes and pulling the plug but nothing worked. The option is there, just like the images I posted above for the DCX model, for the iTV and Instant Info. Also on the Pace boxes is Caller ID and Watchlist but those seem to work fine.
As for what I meant by slow was the DCX3400 is fast in everything but the iTV widgets. The DCX3400 is very responsive in the DVR menus, guide, etc. It is ONLY the iTV widgets that are slow as molasses! When you first start the widgets there is a 1 to 2 second pause between screens and sometimes it will get stuck at "Loading..."!
When I go to the my teams feature in which I've selected at least three sports teams from each sport to load in the My Teams sports tab it can take as long as 5-10 seconds to load! Sometimes the weather will take a minute or two to load! Also when you select a particular widget (ie: News) it takes like 5 "Sorry, content is currently unavailable. Please try again Code: IIN127" and when I want to go back to that tab it says "! Content unavailable".
Sometime I'll just get stuck as the "Loading O O O O" screen and today on my DCX3400 I got the same error message that was on the Pace RNG110, "We're trying to access that feature but it's temporarily unavailable. Please try again in a few minutes. Code: QS1". I then went back out to my main menu and tried again and it worked. But switching through tabs takes like 3-4 seconds sometimes and sometimes only a half a second. I don't understand why because I'm sure no one else it even using them or has even found them yet! Sometimes it's so slow you think its frozen as it sits unresponsive and you'll have to select items multiple times to get them to work.
Everything is just so painfully slow on the widgets that it defeats the purpose as in the time it takes to get the info on my TV I could grab my Smart Phone and get the info faster. The GUI is a little nicer than the default iGuide but it is also still bland and 2001ish. I do like that for news stories they include images but you can't blow them up or make them clearer so they are basically useless!
I wish they would shovel this feature and just start on a new guide with channel logos and full 16:9 HD resolution! Argggggggg!

 | you have to post this over in the comcast forums on comcast.net or call tech support and let them know you are having this problem so they can fix it and get the widgets rolled out to the rest of us faster. |

No offense but I don't want the widgets. I think they are horribly, unusably slow. I would rather have an updated guide first or a new guide with real widgets like my smart tv has.
However I am going to do a test to see how quickly they are updated. I'm going to watch a live sporting event and monitor how fast updates are processed on the widgets. I'm curious to see if they are updated in real-time? I will post my results.

 | reply to FifthE1ement i chatted with a technical support agent and they told be that instant info is going to be discontinued they said: "Instant Info is only deployed in the Florida Region and is limited to Vero, North Dade, and Pompano. General Customer Notification: Comcast would like to announce the completion of the Instant Info market trial on or around August 13th, 2012. While the application will be discontinued, we are pleased with and thank those subscribers who used the application on a regular basis. For similar services, please stay tuned as Comcast will continue to provide unique products and services enhancing your viewing experience. Some additional information for the Instant Info, *: Internal Discussion Points · Instant Info is only deployed in the South Florida market for trial purposes. · Instant Info is only accessible through the ITV button on the Menu Bar. · Due to limited marketing of the Instant Info application, less than 1% of S. Florida market has accessed the application. Of those subscribers, many were repeat users so it may generate some customer phone calls upon removal (see general customer notification above for response). · Changes in the data feed from our sports score vendor [STATS] on 8/16 will break the sports widget in Instant Info, generating an error message." |

 | bugfree, yeah I've seen that info but they have been saying that for years! The processors in the Motorola DCT/DCH/DCX and Pace boxes could do some amazing GUI elements if correctly programmed! I don't know why I would need a new box to make the GUI look better? My DCX has 512MB of RAM and the older ones have anywherre from 128MB to 512MB. And they have decent processors too so why no updates?
joejoejeo, thanks for the info as I noticed it was gone last week when I went to look at something, lol. It was slower than crap anyways and basically useless due to the speed. It was faster to turn to ESPN and watch the ticker than the time it would take to load the sports widget and navigate to the team you wanted, lol! -- "The relationship between what we see and what we know is never settled..." |

andyrossPremium,MVM join:2003-05-04 Schaumburg, IL | If I remember, the DCT (and maybe DCH) don't actually have a 16:9 graphics mode. The best they can do is stretch 4:3 graphics to 16:9. Plus, as someone with a regular DCT6412P2, it is already a bit sluggish in HD mode. It's one reason I often use SD channels if I don't really need HD, and am doing guide searching and other intensive stuff. |

It has nothing to do with the box and more to do with the programming and system. The way the system preforms searches and the coding itself is horrid and old on these systems. -- "The relationship between what we see and what we know is never settled..." |
