Of course the guy on the phone says there's no problem, although it took him a long time to get to my modem.

Sucks again tonight. Sure looks like I'm having return path issues as my upstream is now 50k, downstream is all over the place.

Phone tech doing the usual clear your cookies, etc. Actually had the gall to tell me that my web browser *is* the internet. Couldn't get it through his head that I don't have 30mb service for web browsing.

Anyway, truck rolling on Sat. I'm sure I'll be getting a modem that won't fix a thing.

Wow Dan, you may be hearing from me .

I already had your info, so I took a look at your modem. First thing I can say is your transmit levels are low, currently at a 30dBmV on 31mhz, and 31dBmV on 37mhz. These levels should be at least a 35dBmV if not 40dBmV (I tend to shoot for 40-45 for optimal performance.

There was a firmware upgrade done to your CMTS just last night/this morning. That might also help if there was an issue there.

I checked for any bandwidth issues between your modem and the internet, and there was plenty of bandwidth. Let me know if you're still having problems.

Hey Dan, thanks!

This morning before work things were screaming. Now after work I can barely surf, let alone do anything else.

Still the same issue I've been having, just getting much, much worse. Guess I'll have to schedule a tech to come out on a Tuesday night or something so somebody can see it happening.

Ok, so tech puts a filter and a splitter on the line and replaces the modem. Here's what I end up with.
Dan, what do you know about 10.15.25.78? If I swap out my router for another I end up at 10.15.25.74 on that hop. And it seems better.

Anyway, now what? I can't even complete a speed test because it bombs on the upload.

Nevermind, even with the ip in the lower trace my internet is next to unusable. It wasn't bad up until now. Now it in the toilet again.

I won't be back in the office until Friday, but I found a possible noise issue in your area. I sent an email to someone to have to checked out tomorrow. Hopefully that will help.

Hey Dan, does that noise issue only occur at night?

My connection was unusable starting at midnight - 4 AM. When I checked at 6:45 is was fully functional.

Noise could be caused by many factors. It could be a device a customer has in their home that is causing it, and they only turn it on a certain times. It could be a lot of open tap ports that happen to pick up and feed back more noise at certain times. What it is, I don't know. Hopefully they will be able to track down the source.

So tech comes out Monday, swaps modem, and puts a filter and splitter on back of modem. Tells me I'm at the end of the line, so I shouldn't have problems.

Not fixed.

Tech comes out Tuesday. Tells me there's no reason to replace modem as they are all brand new. Takes filter and splitter off the modem. Tells me I'm kinda screwed because I'm at the end of the line.

Not Fixed.

Tech comes out Thursday. I'm not home, so I have no idea what he does. He really wants me to use WOW wireless though, and leaves me the password to the wireless setup page. No thanks, I'll stay bridged to my own router.

We'll see how things go tonight.

Dan,
So far so good. I think the next couple of days will be a test, as I'm beginning to believe this is temperature related - I've only had issues on warmer days.
