Expecting defections?

I wonder the timing of this, is at&t expecting mass defections to other carriers? The 'benefit' of being a long time customer is just smoke and mirrors with no real value.

The 'long term' at&t customers I know are at&t employees and their families.

We have had At&t since 2000 when it was Houston Cellular and all throughout Cingular. None of us are At&t employees or ever have been, we have just not had a need to switch.

Well, they could see significant defections on the iPhone front. Remember, iPhone 4 was the last one exclusive to AT&T (Verizon version came more than half a year later). The contracts of those who have them should be expiring starting this coming June, leaving them to depart for competition. With rumors so far pointing towards the next iPhone coming out this fall and most likely it being LTE, I do see quite a few defections towards Verizon whose LTE is far ahead of AT&T's. I would be one of such defectors.

As far as pissed off 3GS users, I believe most of them have already departed for either Verizon or Sprint.

For starters vzw's new iPad has a free data hotspot and AT&T does not...

Their churn rates are very low so I'd say the vast majority of AT&T customers are loyal.

But speaking of anecdotal opinions most people who go around internet forums "hating," on AT&T are not actually AT&T users. They are either Verizon employees or Sprint subs who were denied credit.

I have been with them prior to that when it was SWB. We have. It generally needed to switch but the unlimited data throttling and what seems like the total disregard is what is making us look to Verizon..

I go even before 2000, think '88. First phone was a Panasonic with a solid handset connected to the portable based/cradle. No bag but similar to the old bag phone. Phones back then were solid.

My line was added in '04, but the original line was definitely pre-2000.
