[Aliant] G.DMT or ANSI?

I have the older Comtrend 301 modem. When I first got it I noticed the firmware default was ANSI(full rate). I have changed it a few times to G.DMT and also "Auto" in the past. I seem to get less CRC errors on ANSI mode, but I'm not positive.

I upgraded to ultra mode yesterday (beyond 1.5 Mb) and I'm trying to stablize my connection as much as possible. My noise margin dropped from 23 dB to 8 dB after the speed upgrade.

I'm in nova scotia. anyone know the specifics on this?
