Automotive → Heat sheild

OK so the heat sheild above the exhaust pipe on my 2003 Accord is about to fall off. Is it necessary to replace this thing? If so, how much does it usually cost to replace this thing? Anyone ever had theirs replaced? I can ordr the part from here »www.hondaautomotiveparts ··· %28L4%29 .

Depends on where you live and/or what can accumulate under the car after parking it. If dry, fallen leaves, paper etc make contact with the hot catalytic converter before it cools down, .............
