Time to tell Press to take a hikeI wish ISP would tell press yes we are going to charge them for our equipment as state in the contract. You can report it on this story as you like but it will not get us to back up. If business started doing this press would just shut up. |

You are right, truly the press is evil for reporting this. Poor Comcast. |

Here in North America, press tells you! Let me rephrase it for you. Any advertisement is a good advertisement. I say fuck PR, tell the news you will not back down and let see what they will do if enough of business follow that line of thinking. |

Then, other media outlets would pick up the story, and it would get bigger and bigger until the company was forced to change its policy or it took a financial bath as customers bailed. You do realize, I hope, that this approach would be a public relations disaster. |

Yes it might be PR disaster in beginning but overall it will be a win. Once media knows you don't give a crap they will not bother going after you. |

I agree that they'd eventually move on to another story, but I don't think the media would then simply go away. Look at the TSA's behavior. You've got an agency that pretty much doesn't give a damn about people, and that has caused the media and bloggers to jump on just about every negative story they come across. Each story's effect is small, but they're building over time. Sooner or later, something is going to happen that strikes people's last never, and the fallout will be huge.
Now, a business is more susceptible to these bad stories because bad publicity ultimately translates to lost sales. If a company continues to act like a jerk, over time, customers will look for ways to leave, and the damage slowly adds up. Look at what happened to AT&T. They were regarded for decades as the nastiest, rudest company in the country, but they survived because people had no other choice. But, as soon as people could choose other long distance carriers, they left AT&T in droves, and the company is now dead and buried. The RBOC's lived on because they were still mostly monopolies, but that's also changed, and they're also slowly dying. |

So when a natural disaster destroys your house, you will pay the isp to hold your service, even though you have no house? Good to know, they like people like you. |

If i am under contract and there is no clause that let me out yes I will pay for service or pay the ETF whichever is cheaper for me. |
