Not to hijack the OP but I haven't seen any movement on the topic and I might need a little more hand holding to set mine up.<br><br>I have a Dir-655 D-Link router and the same At&T 2wire gateway.<br><br>I want to use my own router behind the Gateway and reduce the gateway's role to just a modem because I've configured my DIR-655 with quite a few static IP's for household appliances, Qos for others, port forwarding for remote access for some devices and i'll hate to set all that up again on the AT&T gateway.<br><br>Is there any way i can avoid having to <b>Set my router management IP on a new network</b> since I have some preconfigured static IP's on my network?<br><small>--<br>Good judgement comes with experience...Experience comes after bad judgements</small>]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[gnet158 posted : I did the same thing (kind of), I have a Belkin ShareMax 300n running dd-wrt connected to my 3801.  Here's what I did and it should work for you.  At a high level, here's what you do to each.<br><br>Belkin (or your router) -<br>Set the WAN port for DHCP<br>Set your router management IP on a new network 10.10.10.50 for example (anything except the DHCP range of the 3801, which is usually 192.168.1.x)<br>Create a DHCP range on the same network<br>enable firewall<br><br>3801 -<br>Click on the 3801 icon (in the management page)<br>Click on event notification, click on router behind router<br>Go to the firewall, click on applications and pinhole DMZ<br>look for the MAC address of your router, click on it<br>make sure to click on the last option, "allow all applications", click save<br><br>Reboot the 3801 first and then your router<br>Your router should pickup the public IP address of your 3801<br>make sure you can get a DHCP address on your new network that connected to your router and test internet connection.<br>If done correclty, you you should be able to access your 3801 ]]></description>
