Sweet WitchBe the flame, not the moth.Premium,MVM join:2003-07-15 Gallifrey | [Beginner] tiny little mac? Hi guys,
Ok, my father is in the ICU and I need to get some files from his computer, but the only mac thing I can find near his desk is a small maybe 8" square by 1.5" high box on his desk under a monitor with a mac logo on the top. There's a slim optical drive sitting on the top of it too.
Forgive this pc girl, but is that the actual computer?
If so, what model is it so I can look up the manual?
Thanks! -- "While you can teach an old dog new tricks, you simply can't teach him to be a cat."

 | It's probably a Mac mini: »en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mac_Mini
Depending on how old it is it will have a DVI or HDMI port for connecting to a monitor. -- less talk, more music |

SS drive? Solid State?
Mini doesn't have solid state, if I recall correctly. |

Is this what you're looking at?
The unit on the bottom is the Mac Mini. It has USB ports in the back if you need to plug in a USB drive to copy files to & from.
The unit on top is the Apple slot loading optical drive, which connects via USB to the back. -- Tank Nation 2012

It's an external Solid State Drive, something called a Mercury Extreme Pro 6G. -- "While you can teach an old dog new tricks, you simply can't teach him to be a cat."

No freaking clue. I can access the sidebar to see the programs but neither a right click or hitting Return will actually open anything. It just switches back and forth between some open program and a black screen with something like open program icons on it. -- "While you can teach an old dog new tricks, you simply can't teach him to be a cat."

Shift + Command (looks like a square with 4 pig tails) + 3 is screenshot. They'll be placed on the desktop with a time stamp. |

Sweet WitchBe the flame, not the moth.Premium,MVM join:2003-07-15 Gallifrey | reply to Mike I can't get it to turn on now. I didn't shut it down yesterday, just turned off the monitor, and I just turned the monitor back on and it couldn't find a signal.

If that doesn't work, hold the button on the back in for about 5 seconds, give it a second, then push it again then wait for the chime. |
