File > Print is pretty much universal for all apps.

Ok, it wanted to print one contact per page so I saved it as a .pdf on the desktop instead of printing over 300 pages.

And how do I stop a print job?

Just pull the plug on the printer at this point, to save paper and ink, and figure it out later. It depends on if there's any printer software installed.

Click on the username in the side bar, and you will see it in the big window.

Make sure you're in the Finder first. Finder is like Windows Explorer.
To make sure you're in Finder: Left-click on an empty part of the desktop, then press Command-N. The command key is usually located where the Windows key is on a PC keyboard.

Is there a "Home" folder on the sidebar?

There's no user name in the sidebar and no Home in the sidebar.

I'm in Finder though

If you are in the finder, pressing command+shift+h at the same time will open the home folder.

In Finder (Window) top menubar>Preferences, will let you choose what to always see in Finder left sidebar....

Same View>Customize toolbar will let you add Applications ( programs)/menus to Finder Window (top menu) if you so wish

Ok, got the documents, how do I burn them to this external drive? In windows you can peck around and send a bunch of different files to the burner and that's what I'd like to do here.

Insert a blank CD/DVD, a message will pop up asking where you want to use it. Tell it to use Finder. Then you'll be able to drag/drop documents onto the disc as if it were just another folder. When you're done, open the disc's window and then press the burn button.

Select all the files you want to burn then choose the Burn to disk from the File menu.

How do I eject the disk?

How do I choose more than one file?

This is incredible!! I've pushed the eject button on the keyboard - nothing. I've held down the F12 key - nothing. I've opened Toast and ejected - nothing.

I can't restart the computer to try that method and I don't have a flash drive with me. I do have SD cards but there's no slot that I can find.

This is my one chance to get these files and the stupid disc drive is jamming on me! It's not even showing up as being inserted.

Optical disks are the bain of OS X. This is the one thing Apple has never gotten right, ever, by far.

Top right of the screen there is a little Magnifying glass thingie called "Spotlight"

click on that, type in "Terminal", select the program.

type in "drutil eject"

That will eject the disk unless it's stuck, which I doubt.

Nothing. Damn macs!

I just went out and bought a 4gb USB drive. Am I going to be able to just plug it into the monitor or am I going to have to fight this damned thing too?

I truly can't believe how impossible this is!

I buy a flash drive, insert it - nothing.

Put it in my lappy to make sure it works - yup. Formatted it to get rid of the preinstalled crap.

Put it back in the mac - nothing. Put it in another port - nothing.

NOW what the ^&$( is the problem???

Now you have to format it for use with the Mac. Take a look here:

I'm in Finder but can't find Applications.

If I format it in the mac can I then not use it in my pc? I'm trying to transfer files between a mac and a pc.

Applications should be on the left side in Finder. If you are trying to get to Disk Utility you can also click on the top right on the magnifying glass and type it in.

You may be able to format the Flash drive for the Mac, remove the Files, and then put them on your PC. You can do it the other way around (PC to Mac). If I am not correct, please someone correct me.

It says Finder on the very top next to an apple icon. I've looked in all the menus and nothing says Applications. On the left side of the window are the docked programs.
