 | reply to dee01832 said by dee01832:K, i always seem to have am issue with modem.. i have asked a number of times if they can send me a different one, they wpuld send a signal and say its fine... well i was all all night working, and was having issues i called 2 times between 2-6 am. Then my next call i was determined to have a real solution. The guy looks up my info told me to go to a web site had me plug ethernet direct to pc ran some test he put me on hold comes back and says you need a new modem. Explains that the service i have that modem will not pass through the speed correctly. so it was a modem issue, a modem not being able to pass the speed is something new..maybe you indeed have a defective modem and they just pulled your leg...
what modem did you use before and what do you currently have? is the new modem working correctly?
said by dee01832:Talked to many people there throughout the following day one woman figured out i pay 39.99 more a month for what ever enhanced package ii get and the modem couldnt deliver was told a supervisor would be in touch. if you look at your bill or even log in online to Comcast's customer portal, I think you can see what package you have...
said by dee01832:at this point the first free service was a joke, i await PA corporate office to call me again, cause there first 500 credit was laughed at.
credit for what? lost service?
said by dee01832:I am not an engineer how the hell do i know what im getting or not getting. Left to trust what your told from the professionals. you don't have to be an engineer to know what speed you are paying for. looking at the bill or online will determine it easily.
so all of this transpired over the course of 8 years or just recently?

 | you asked why 8 years... says HD triple Plus |

1 edit | said by dee01832:you asked why 8 years... says HD triple Plus did you have the service issue during the span of 8 years or not? yes or no?
you know what, good luck on your case. do keep us updated....
i just can't seem to understand your logic of suing comcast for some service issue which turns out to be a modem problem, specially for some technically challenged people who think that if they don't get the service right anytime of the day, week or year will sue in the name of consumer protection when in fact there might be some variables affecting their service.
just like that starbucks case where the customer was warned that the drink was hot and expect it to be hot but sipped and got burnt a bit in the tongue but still sued.
crazy nuisance court cases... |

As a reminder, your speeds have probably changed in 8 years ago.
8 years ago was 4mb about 5 years ago they upped it to 7mb last year, with docsis 3, they moved it to 12-15mb
Any chance you have speed tests documented every month from the last 8 years? |

 | So, i produce my contracts from comcast that i what paid for. any what i got we be based on the modem that i rented at the time. |

a lot has changed in 8 years....
and no, Comcast is not going to call you and say, Mr. Dee whoever, we want to offer you a new modem for free since we've upgraded the service to give you faster speeds. to them, if it is working, leave it alone. if you have problems, that's when they try to troubleshoot and or replace hardware like your modem. |

1 edit | reply to medbuyer Well i wasnt WARNED i wasnt getting what i paid for and they provided a device that couldn't deliver. |

 | reply to dee01832 The judge is going ask why did you want 8 years for. If you are lucky he may let you go back 1 or 2 years. -- Caddy |

like I said above, Comcast isn't going to warn you...they'll upgrade when they like it..
be grateful you got upgraded...some areas still doesn't have it.

In this case, you happen to be wrong. + 1 I would heed baineschile advise... |

What make and model modem did you have previously? What do you have now? I can tell you what speeds they can handle.
ALL of them can handle more then 4 mbps, all but a microscopic handful EOL'd years ago can handle more then 8 mbps. Within the last 3 years, longer than Comcast offered the speed, modems have become available which can handle more than 30 mbps.
To say that your modem has kept you from getting the speeds you've been paying to receive for the last 8 years and Comcast hasn't fixed it in over 100 calls doesn't pass the smell test.
said by dee01832:You buy a pound of cheese you pay for a pound of cheese, not what the clerk feels like calling a pound of cheese, know what I mean. So far, using your cheese analogy, you're going to tell the judge you were paying Hickory Farms for their $39.95 cheese block and renting the cutting board for it. You have no idea what the size of the cheese block was supposed to be then or now, but some guy at Hickory Farms told you your cutting board isn't big enough for the size of the cheese block you are supposed to be getting. You're not an engineer so have no idea how to measure the cheese block you're actually getting. Meanwhile just about every cutting board Hickory Farms rents has been big enough to handle all the cheese blocks they sell up until 2 years ago and they've put out repeated notifications in their bills over the last 8 year informing their cheese customers they will be getting bigger cheese blocks in the near future, but you've admitted you don't really look at the bills, you just pay online. Now you want 8 years of your money back because your cheese doesn't measure up and the cutting board supposedly can't handle it.
Basically you don't know if you were supposed to get a pound of cheese and you really don't have proof you didn't other then some guy recently telling you that you weren't. -- If it's important, back it up... twice. Even 99.999% availability isn't enough sometimes. |

 | reply to medbuyer comcast had no problem taking my money for the upgraded internet though... so im not saying there responsibly tell me of new equipment however they are responsible to tell me the equipment i rent will not be adequate i thank you all for your advise, but most must work for comcast and have awesome company spirit because none of you seem to understand anti-trust consumer protection, or unfair or deceptive practices. Good Day! |
