My old Cisco ATA can only be place horizontally and the top is intentionally designed to "discourage" stacking. I found a old huge transistor heatsink with a U shaped channel opening which just happens to be the exact thickness of the ATA. It is standing vertically using a lot less space. The cooling is also much better as it now has double the surface area. The heatsink acts as a weight only.
